Finally 18! How I found success with IM ~ Bday post.

Hey WF,

I just wanted to share my experiences with you guys and how I was able to 'earn' some money online (note: We don't "make" money we earn it).

Many of you would have heard what I am going to say many times over, but how many of you actually take note of things that have been repeated over and over again on the WF?

I must admit, it took me 6 months of lurking on the WF before I signed up and began conversing with the experts in each different field of IM. I was a sponge waiting to absorb as much information as I possibly could.

The main tip I would like to share would be to find a PROVEN traffic technique, niche and a way to monetize your website and apply it until it works.

What do I mean by proven? Well, the 'main' models that everyone is talking about here that allow people to earn money. Open yourself up to the WF and think deeply about what people are actually saying instead of taking their words at face value.

For me: I saw that article marketing/syndication and SEO were proven to (with some work) earn people money online. I then researched one of the three big niches (health, relationships and money) and did hours of keyword research to see which competitors ranked for each keyword and WHY they were ranked there.

After some research I was weighing up the pros and cons of CPA and Clickbank to determine how I was going to see some of that green stuff. Either method is completely fine - one doesn't work better than the other, it just depends on how you work each model to your potential.

I had to visually draw out my sales funnel - how was my potential customer going to interact with my website and then finally move onto taking an action or buying a product.

I went on to earn a small amount of money for that website - my first earnings online.

Success to me was to actually be able to earn money for myself - right from home.

BUT I learned through action instead of sitting on the WF and soaking up information - that didn't earn me anything at all.

So here is the information I want EVERYONE who isn't earning money to take away from this post.

1. Set some goals - what do you want to achieve? Enough money to quit your job? Become a millionaire? Whatever it is, write it down and read it to yourself every single day.

2. Find a niche, traffic method and a way to monetize your website that has been PROVEN to work for others here in the WF.

3. Create an action plan for everyday - you can only live one day at a time so I guess you're going to have to put up with that and create an action plan for everyday. This should outline what you need to get done and will keep you focused and moving towards your goals.

4. Go out there and work your plan until you see some success. If you feel that your plan isn't going the way it should then adjust it or ask people in the WF here.

5. Before asking questions PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, use the search function here. I have seen the same questions being asked many times, so by using the search function you may uncover your question being asked and some potentially good responses.

6. IM isn't hard. It just requires you to actually work and put the effort in to succeed. Never have we seen a better time for small businesses and entrepreneurs to get their name out there and have a higher chance of being wealthy than we do right now on the internet.

Don't delay - who knows how you could change your life if you begin the journey now instead of 6 or 12 months later.

Well, it's time to head off to Uni.

All the best,
Matt.

I think you've just shown a proven formula that has worked and will continue to work. It's been working for me and now I'm smiling and I'm sure it'll work for anybody that can PUT IN THE WORK REQUIRED.

IM is not magic or film. It's hard work done in a smart way.

And...just cloaked 18? Welcome to the 'late teenagers' club. One more year to go and people'll start expecting something something from you...guess how old I am?

    Congrats on your success.

I am also 18, and this year am starting to see the fruits of
    my labor.

Your absolutely correct... Find a system, work at it until it
    works, and then keep pushing.

People think "reading" is taking action, but taking action is
actually in the "do" of marketing.

You can buy all the informational products in the world, but
you won't be a step closer to achieving the results you want
unless you take, consistent, continued, actions on your
    project.

Unfortunately, there is no "Silver-Bullet" in IM (and methods
that generate fast cash are often short term, and unsustainable).

This holds true for everything in life

    Truly,
    Craig Michaels

It sounds like you're going to do very well for yourself. You've made some really excellent points here, have soaked up the basic knowledge and aren't afraid of a little hard work.

Happy birthday man, I'll be turning 18 in October. I've always believed that age doesn't matter (accept under certain parameters of the law..lol) and you've certainly proved that. I have written down my goals and the steps that I will take to achieve them for the next 18 months and I am already taking action on them!

It's so easy to believe Internet Marketing does not require work at all. Well, it may require less work than other tasks once you have everything set up, but you have to work in deed, and there's no turnaround for that one (unless you outsource everything).

Happy birthday and keep it up

I am 17 myself and I have earned a good amount online thus far. I started on Squidoo selling lenses, then made a niche website which still racks in Adsense revenue everyday, then worked on some CPA, also did many other things, and now I flip domains and I really love it.

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

I've stated nothing new in this thread. I am just re-posting what needs to be heard as I feel that not everybody is getting the message.

When you look around at the posts that are on the WF you will see that the most helpful advice has been hidden in plain sight. It has been said over and over again but many people just don't "get it".

Once you notice the trend you will begin to see it everywhere.

    Wishing you all success,
    Matt.

Wow, there's more members around my age than I thought. I'll be turning 20 this month.

Taking action and sticking with a plan really is the key....most of the time. I do believe there is a point when someone might actually just end up beating the dead horse. I worked with PPV for many months, and I was just shy of breaking even with it. Unfortunately, I simply didn't have the funding to continue with it for the time being. While I think I can say I know more than most do about PPV, I was never able to repeatably create winning campaigns. It's definitely something for the future.

However, I've been sticking with SEO for now. I attempted SEO over a year ago and got frustrated that I didn't get results in a couple weeks. Then finally I realized that SEO's tradeoff investment is the investment of time. It is particularly expensive, unless you outsource of course.

PPC, PPV, and other paid traffic can get you instant traffic, but it's obviously much more expensive to begin with. That's tradeoff though.

Well, I sort of went off on a tangent, but in short, I do agree that sticking with 1 thing until it works is definitely how to do it, as long as you can sustain it.

And most of all, Happy Birthday!

Happy 18th Birthday, Matt. You're right in that you're not posting anything really new or different, but your advice is sound and needs to be stressed again and again, especially for newbies who get overly enamored with the latest new 'overnight pushbutton money' products that seem to be coming out at an alarming rate recently.

That is true - but in the product creators' defense they are merely giving their audience what they are asking for

Although it may not work as easy as one would hope.

        All the best.

Happy 18th Birthday! You're right, IM isn't hard for those people who are committed to succeed and those who never give up when failures arise.

However, the problem with many people is that they give up easily when things don't go according to plan. It's important to keep on going and adjusting until you finally reach your goals.
