Looking for some basic tips on making money with squidoo pages??

Just curious if there are any warriors making money on squidoo lenses?

Is it a matter of just making a #$@! load of pages and making pennies via adsense on each one or are there ways to get lenses to compete in google serps?

Also, does most traffic from lenses come from inside squidoo or outside?

Any tips would be great as I am kind of interested in using this...

What I did was gave up on trying to make a dime with their ad pool on their. You want to go after Amazon/ebay products.
another thing you could do is sell your lenses or if you become good at them you can offer a service and make them for others.

Use Squidoo to sell Clickbank products - don't make them too spammy and be sure to avoid topics such as get your ex-back and certain health subjects otherwise your lens will be locked. Write a little pre-sell information about your subject and use a strong call to action at the end. You may need several lenses around a related topic and link them all together to get any results.

Firstly, I should mention that your lenses are obviously owned by squidoo, and therefore you are at their beck and call, i.e. they can choose to take down/remove/delete any of your lenses at any time, if they feel a lens (or group of lenses) contravenes their TOS in anyway. So, a lot of hard work can be lost in the blink of an eye. Owning and using your own domain at least keeps you in control.

    However

Squidoo is a platform that I absolutely love. I've heard and read many of the Squidoo v Hubpages arguments, but for me it's always been Squidoo (but that is simply the personal opinion of one person, and nothing more).

I have used numerous squidoo lenses for backlinking to "money sites", but I also love the set up and just writing in general. I have found that ever since I stopped trying to "sell stuff" on squidoo, my squidoo income has exponentially grown. In fact, my various squidoo accounts probably produce a monthly income that many people would be happy with on its own (this is simply one part of the jigsaw for me...actually it's not even that, it's just fun).

I actually concentrate on ranking lenses with simple on-page SEO, and tend to target informational keywords that people would be interested in reading about. I especially like compiling top 5 or top 10 lists of sports, entertainment, factual, scientific and nature related trivia (just use your imagination), subjects that I am personally interested in and NOT subjects that I believe will make money. You would not believe the amount of keywords out there that have 10's to 100's of thousands of searches a month, without much front-page competition.

Even with simple on-page SEO, a few likes, a few votes, a few comments, and friends sharing your lenses, I been able to secure many top-2000 lenses. Any lens that ranks in the top 2000 (according to my own experience, please don't take this as gospel) has received $20-$30 a month simply from the ad pool revenue. You add a few amazon/ebay/cafepress sales, and you build your total number of lenses over an extended period of time, (such as 3 years like me), it works out quite nicely.

I must admit it's more like a hobby, and not a money-making scheme, but eventually over time, it all adds up. But, as I have mentioned, it could all disappear overnight, so I never rely on my squidoo income, it's just a lovely bonus on the 15th of every month!

    Cheers
    Partha

Both squidoo and hubpages are tightening the screws on CB affiliate products, so you should be cautious about promoting them there.

A better alternative is promote Amazon and ebay products on squidoo.
