Anyone Use a Good Events Calendar

INTERNET MARKETING

Does anyone have any experience working with Events Calendars for a website. What I need is searchable database of events that is presented as a calendar. You could search by event type, area or date and the results would be presented to you. Either the Admin could add a new event or a visitor to the site could add their own event.

I've seen them for certain sports event sites but am not sure the software/technology behind it.

Any advice or suggested software would be highly appreciated.
