PayPal eChecks are Killing Me!

Hey Folks,

I have noticed that a handful of my recurred billing folks and full pays have been granted access to my members area by using an eCheck. PayPal gave them access before the check cleared. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Some cancel after they download and scrape my members area when they have not paid me yet for the service and products.

Please... ALL HATS welcome here! This is a White Hat, Grey Hat, and Black Hat topic! Please advise. I need to fix this ASAP!

    If you use DLGuard you don't have this problem. Access isn't granted
    until after the echeck clears.

      Yes, there sure is:

      DLGuard - Download page protector, create expiring download links

      This is actually software I've developed over the past 4 or 5 years, now.

      By default, your customer will be added to your system, but they won't be able to download until the Echeck clears.

      When it clears, they get another email with their download link.


      You can turn this feature off for those not interested in it, but it's definately a handy tool.


      By blocking ALL echeck payments, you may be losing sales from people who don't have credit cards, or those who just prefer to pay with bank balances.

      Keep an eye on your sales rates if you decide to close it down completely!

    Hi

    I would have thought that your membership script should have realised that eChecks are not instant payment and therefore "held" until clearing, however . . .

    You can block the use of eChecks in your Paypal profile - Payment Receiving Preferences.

    Most membership scripts work through an IPN that only gives access after the payment has cleared. They all work in different ways but most of them will not allow access until after the payment has cleared your account.

    Haha, I did not know you can block that. Do you think I will lose money? I don't get a lot VS Credit Cards but some do clear. I have been using AuthPro.com for memberships/password entry as they were only $4.95/mo. I may need a script. TY both. I will reset my preferences for now Nice! Nice!
