Possibly New Sticky Here?

Hey to all -

After repeatedly reading noob threads and posts here... and as others here have already repeatedly said... and after seeing the very same questions asked over and over again by new people here...

... How do you all feel about creating a new sticky here entitled "First Time Visitors Must Read This First" or something like that... or even amending one of the current stickies...

And in that thread or post specifically show new people here precisely how to use the search function here [and at the old forum] and basically gently insist that they first use that search function and the current content basically like an FAQ or Knowledge Base before just asking a question again that's already been asked and answered a dozen or more times before now.]

Yes, OpenOffice is a free, and easy to use tool that you can use to convert Word documents to PDF.

I've heard they used to have one that didn't get read. In the old forum I had made a suggestion of using a numbering system to shorten our replies to the inevtable questions.

    Here is that post...

    Hello Fellow Warriors,

In the interest of saving some time so we can all get on with more
important things, I would like to offer this handy list of replies.
Then, when these issues come up, you can just answer with the number
that goes with the response you would like to give.

    1. If it was spam, that's why it was deleted. If you think it was a
grey area, then it was spam, that's why it was deleted.

    2. If it was deleted for another reason, don't ask the general
population of the Warrior Forum - they can only guess. In reality it
is nothing more than a way for you to whine about being deleted.

    3. If you mess up and offer an apology, the Warriors can be a very
    forgiving bunch.

    4. If you mess up and disguise your whining as an apology, most
    Warriors will see through it.

    5. If you come looking for advice, and you don't like what you hear,
too bad. You asked for the advice, and arguing with those who are
taking the time to help shows your immaturity and a lack of
    professionalism.

    6. Yes, OpenOffice is a great way to convert to PDF.

    7. No, you will not make $2000 overnight.

    8. Yes, to put a link that shows text instead of your URL in your
sig file...go to the FAQ section. (There's lots of info there)

    9. Is it ok to do this in a WSO? I don't know, I'm not a Mod.

    10. "I didn't know" is not an appropriate response for something has
been: A)Discussed at length since you've been a member (bumping
WSOs, for example) or B)Clearly laid out in the rules (bumping WSOs,
    for example).

    Here's an example:

    Original post...

Hey, does anybody know a free way I can convert Word documents to PDFs and keep the links intact?

Feel free to use these in anyway you see fit. Think of all the time you will save by answering with a single digit number.

I'm sure I forgot some others, but this is a start.
There were also several good responses at...

The Warrior Forum - An idea whose time has come?

I meant it to be slightly tongue-in-cheek, but at the same time a point was being made.

In a perfect world people would read any FAQs. I think the right title for the sticky could help, but only slightly.
