Twitter affiliate link limit?

How many affiliate links can I post to my twitter feed before Twitter shuts me down?

I'm sure the answer is a percentage. Something along the lines of 1 out of every 10 tweets can contain an affiliate link.

There is a difference between how many are allowed and how many are recommended (in order to not lose all your followers). I'm hoping you can give me an idea for both.

I don't have much experience with twitter and I want to start experimenting, but I'm curious what other peoples experiences are.

    I got up to 50 links in a day before I was banned. But that was last year some time. They may have changed the rules since then.

    I don't think it's a matter of links, there is a limit of how many tweets per hour you can do before being put in twitter "jail". Lots of people have back up accounts for that too.

    I was advertising a bit.ly link hot and heavy for a while and never got put in twitter "jail" for it. I think it's something like 150 tweets in an hour, but that would be very obnoxious to your followers. Some of the sites I follow on twitter have a shortened link in every tweet pointing back to an article on their sites.

    The way to figure out if you are being overbearing with the links is to monitor your un-follows, slowly crank it up til you see unfollows that will tell you your acceptable percentage. Your niche will determine that, there's no magic formula.
