So, I am writing a guide for Groupon UK affiliate marketing department and well I was wondering what the most common questions are regarding affiliate marketing.

What do people want to know & what do people need help with?

Would love some feedback.

Regards,
Will.

  • Hey Will,

I think affiliates want to know...

    - How they benefit from promoting the product

    - How and when they are paid

    - If you provide them with tools

    - If you train them

    - If it is one tier or two

    - How their affiliate link is tracked

    - How refunds work

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    ^PV Reymond

    • This is sepctacular also what types of traffic they can use to promote because sometimes you aren't allowed to use certain types of traffic.
  • The biggest question how do I promote it? Most places tell you forums, emails, articles, press release. There are millions of marketers, so that says nothing. How do you stand out from millions of marketers? Why is your product better than the competition? What converting rate has been achieved on sales? How to properly presale product? Who is the target demographic market?

    Hi Will,

I suspect that these are two hugely different questions. In fact I think they may even be quite close to being mutually exclusive.

When people are setting out to make a living through affiliate marketing, or to start a little affiliate marketing business on their side and develop it gradually, there's only really a minuscule correlation between what they typically want to know and what they actually need help with. Or ... to put it another way, what they most "need help with" is learning how to interpret information and develop some judgment about whom to listen to.

I strongly suspect that this is actually a significant component of the underlying reason for the comparatively low successs-rate in "affiliate marketing".

    Just my "skepchick-perspective" ...

    • Anyone with a brain and blood in their veins ought to be receptive to this skepchick's perskeptive. (Try saying that last bit three times - even slow).
  • I think all answers are right though the focus for the product will always stem from how well it was set up (for the affiliates) and how much actually "VALUE" the product really has.
  • Is tracking in real time
Restrictions (times, days of the week, specific sources, ETC)
    Target Demo
Creative Control (Do i have any)
Disqualifying Factors for Leads / Sales i generate
How often do i get paid.

I'm not a publisher but i speak to them on a minute by minute basis and these are some of the most common concerns brought up to me on a daily basis.
