Increase Your Productivity In 4 Steps

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd share something that's been working for me and has been helping me take action towards my goals.

Enjoy...

1. Set a measurable goal with a deadline.
I found that to become more productive, I had to make sure I knew what my end goal was... Without a goal in mind and nothing concrete you are working towards, how do you know if you're being productive? An example would be 'I make over $10000 per month from my affiliate site x by June 30,2011'

2. Top 5 Things That Will Make The Biggest Difference
Every evening, in preparation for the next day, write down the top 5 things that you could do tomorrow that would have the biggest impact on reaching your goal. It's easy to get caught up in doing menial tasks that don't get you any closer to your goal but take up all of your time... Knowing what you need to do to to move as close to your goal as possible will keep you focusing on the important things daily...

3. Reflect On Your Day and Review Your Goal/s
I started the daily habit of spending 10 minutes before I go to sleep to review my day and to briefly journal about it. I found that by reflecting on my day and asking questions like 'On a scale of 1-10 how productive was my day?' I was able to get a clear look at how much progress I actually made that day. Being aware of and measuring your productivity has a wonderful effect on increasing it... Also reviewing and maybe even rewriting your goal is very effective in keeping you completely focused and motivated on a daily basis.

4. Take Action
The only thing left to do is to actually take action on the top 5 things that you wrote down. I found that setting time aside which will be dedicated completely to your business is a great way to actually get things done...

Action Rules...

Mark

You know if I would of followed that advice a year ago I wouldn't still have a 9 to 5. Excellent straight to the point advice. The biggest failing marketers mistake is not sticking to one path to make that successful instead its the product hopping addiction that is making all of these make money online products relevant. Great advice.

I think it's great as we've all saved a lot of time. I'd highly recommend it especially as it's free at the moment!
Sounds interesting, might give that a go... team motivation is one of the issues that my project team needs to address. Does anyone have any other suggestions for improving productivity in teams?

Great points - thanks for sharing

I usually write down my daily goals the night before - pin it on the wall and re-read it before going to bed

read it first thing in the morning when I get up

          and what do you know

By the end of the day all those things listed are done

Funny how it all works out - eh?

A blank A3 page for the week works for me. Map it out on sunday for the week ahead and fill in progress as I go

    Some sound thoughts there.

Also don't try to take on too many things at once or you dilute your effectiveness.

You can end up taking lots of action but it's too diverse to have any real impact so as you say try to pick just a small amount of tasks and make sure you're being effective.

Always recharge and reward yourself as you hit each of your daily goals...Give yourself 5-15 minutes of rest/break time/reward time and you'll find that you will hit more of your goals...Whether it's YouTube or just shutting your eyes and meditating. Give yourself some morsels of pampering for a job well done!

      Hey Michael!

That is some really good advice...

It's so easy to get into the habit of working and never acknowledging your accomplishments... That's a great way to get burnt out...

I found that working in bursts of 1-2 hours is ideal for me to ensure I don't get stressed...

And damn, your post reminded me that I need to start meditating again!

      Thanks!

If you're looking at a longer term project - one way to stay on track is to create a Project Plan.

You can do this using a free service called Plan Anything. (Plan Anything)

I'm biased since I work for the company, but with testimonials such as the one below, posted on Get Satisfaction, I figured what harm would it do to spread a little love! :-D

    "Brilliant, I am speechless!

I am so fired up, this is exactly what I need to get me going, and, at the same time, feel confident I am doing the right thing with my niche.

Dig deep! I love it, now all my thoughts are coming to the surface, and I am able to create a textual picture for my website. Already, I feel 10 lbs. lighter and I am not even half way through.

Paul, your genius never ceases to amaze me, Mazeltov!"
