Calling all Newbies - What are you looking for?

Hi,

Just curious to know what people who are new to internet marketing are primarily looking for when they're browsing around on WF.

In the absence of the key to instant success and riches are you looking for information, training, specialist courses (eg; Adsense), e-guides, videos, or something else? Also, what particular areas of IM are you interested in knowing more about?

Certainly based on the majority of emails I get, people want to know what's the easiest way to make money, preferably as quickly as possible. Nothing wrong with that, but honestly, particularly when you're first starting out, I don't believe that there's any substitute for starting with the basics and learning as much as you can first.

That's just my opinion - I'm sure others will have different views, but I'd be interested to know what newcomers are searching for.

Agree also. Wouldnt give up the day job just yet if your just starting out. You could even use any spare cash from your job to supplement IM. Be prepared to get your teeth stuck into it though. Ill shutup now and leave the floor for the newbies

Hi all ! I'm new here, so i will answer your question.
I'm interested in earning money online since 2010, so thats a year. Every day i do the same, I'm on computer X hours a day,try to find really working method - haven't founded yet . I spoke with lot of people that tried to help me earn something, at the end, they only want earn money on me,because they want to buy product that "really work for them and for me will be too " . I was so naive ! I was thinking that someone else can help me...
For that year i earned 500 dollars in my first 3 months,it is really small amount, but i was so happy for that, if you are asking why i didn't stay with that method, answer is that i did things that - cant work anymore.
For next months i haven't earned anything, still read about techniques that really work and i jump from one method to another method .
This is very bad, i know, but how can i stay in one method if i don't know if is it really working ?
When i ask someone for help, to give me on the right way, they want money.
I don't want to ask anyone for their methods, thats their secret... i want only know, what method is working and i can do that.
    I don't want much - 10$ /day and i will be so happy !
I know that I'm really hard working and i will do everything for that...
A lot of people want money now ! Fast and lot of ! Who not? But I'm in real world, i know that if i want something i need work for that.
So thats my answer - working methods, giving on the right way...

    Thank you

First thing you have to do is stop jumping from one thing to
another. Why don't you get a method and give it a fair try?

Stick to it for at least 21 days, focus all you energy,
effort and time on it, this is the only way you have to know
if the method works for you or not... If you don't give it a
try you will never know. There are things that work for some
      people while for others don't.

Nothing is 100% guaranteed (just death) so you have to be
willing to spend time and energy and risk something if you
want to succeed otherwise you will never succeed.

      Thanks,

J4, When you talk about CPA companies, I think you just need to pick the right ones and know how to market these.
Whether it's CPA, or one that is selling products doesn't matter. There are products in all of these that will earn you money.
          It's a big learning curve...

... I sympathise as I have also been down that route. In my case it took me 6 months in IM to realise this....For the last couple of months a guy was supposedly showing me the ropes, but all the time he was only pushing his own products and had no interest in developing my site at all. I have since noticed that he is always lurking around "newbies' forums" trying to befriend naive beginners...

With hindsight, why would someone spend so much time helping others for nothing?

        That is a fair point.
Its just like with the manufacturing industry. Products and designed to go bad in a certain time so we come right back to the store.

It is the same with some 'gurus' and their advice. They sometimes don't tell the whole truth.

For instance. Take the issue of backlinking. Who could truly claim that backlinking is not necessary or relevant to a google first page ranking.

        Absurd!

And yet there is one popular course released back in end of febuary that claims this, and yet the author's sites which he cites as examples ARE BACKLINKED!

So.... we must learn first and foremost to distinguish truth from error by doing independent research!

Check the horns! To see if its sheep or goat!

        - Cheers!

    Hi,

    I'm new here too.
I have been looking at making money online for a few months now. Not getting very far though.
I think I am like many who are new to IM in the fact that you get sucked in by every promotion/email that looks good.
There is always the next offer that looks better than the last.
You gradually learn after a while to ignore all of this and just concentrate on 1 thing. And you build your business around this.
In regards to the WF, I have been using it previously when looking for reviews and advice on certain products.
I think this will change as I gain more experience.
I will be looking for advice and answers to particular problems I will have and I am learning that forums such as this one are a fantastic resource for this.

    Cheers

I started last summer trying to make money online by putting up a wordpress ecommerce site. I get lots of replys to articles I've sent to directories, but most are just junk & spam. I'm trying to do clickbank, but no luck so far. I have a general idea of how it works but have not found the right formula. I have written blogs and put my affiliate link in. I'm trying to learn how to find a good product to promote and how to make a good landing page that will sell the product. I also want to learn how to create my own ebook to promote, maybe I will have better luck there. I know nothing about this, so hoping to learn.

I can't really afford to buy services right now because I am off work due to a work related injury, and workmans comp is not as much as I was making. So I do appreciate the free help. I have picked up some useful tips on this forum and hope to keep learning. That's why I am here. I really want to learn how to properly promote clickbank, and learn to get more traffic. This is a great forum. Thanks to all.

I don't mind hard work and I am reasonably smart and I have made big bucks in the past...

I have looked at IM for years and always got distracted--
this time i spent some $ to get with a one on one coach Tristan Bull -- any feedback about his program s greatly appreciated..I am trying to focus on his stuff an stay away fro all other shiny things- at his STRONG encouragement!

tech is foreign for me so to buy all his 'extra' services' would cost more than I can manage,,he says his people do it-- so I am staying the course..

    Blink Brian has got it;

... also like to learn and educate people so maybe if I can help I can help others and maybe get a few pointers myself looking through this forums.....

What I am trying to do is the same, put up a website with lots of eagerly searched for information in a niche that I am familiar with so I can build up a list and following of people in my niche area and then build some fantastic products that they need and will want to buy. (Not related to Internet Marketing as a niche you just need to understand how to Market on the Internet)

    The issue is always the technology learning curve and the mass of clutter that you have to wade through ( IM Crap! its hard to wade through and understand what is helpful and good and the bad ripoff products) to get a comprehensive solution to your issue at the time like;
    How to HTML
    How to Build Websites
    CSS
    Good Webhosts
    Building Video
    Sales Pages
    Squeeze pages
    Coding for websites
Security of websites and product downloads
Understanding Google SEO Stuff without getting smashed
    Understanding pricing for your products
Good Business plan for developing your business and website
    Outsourcing
    Building products
    Writing and Building EBOOKS
    Article Marketing
    Facebook marketing
Local MarketinProtecting your website and product downloads
and so on and so on.

The only way to do it is take one step at a time and learn what you need to know then move on to the next step.

    And keep it fun

Take it one step at a time...

You WILL have to learn the basics first, like getting hosting up and fumbling around with wordpress and backend systems at first.

But as you go on, it get's much easier and you learn more advanced skills - which means you can grow your business.

Personally, I disagree with folks who think outsourcing is the be all end all. Knowing the inside of your own business doesn't hurt one bit... and IMO it's damn near CRUCIAL.

It does take time (Gasp!). Yeah, I know, you want money NOW...

The simplest system I have ever seen is this (forget keyword research and all that for now)....

    - Pick a niche

    - Picking an affiliate product

    - Get a top-level domain like .info or .com, and set the redirect to your affiliate product (ENSURE your affiliate link works before moving on)

    - Start writing articles, and submit to EzineArticles and GoArticles and plug your redirect domain in there somewhere. NO BLATANT ADVERTISING.

If you don't know what some of those terms mean, a quick Google search will help you out

    DO IT NOW!

I've been struggling with getting started for well over 2 years now. I've been into a few $70+ memberships and followed their steps and instructions to the fullest, but did it yell me any results? no.

What i really want to know, is what works and what doesn't. It seems like every single marketer i've come across leaves out the very basic and neccessary steps to actually get results.

Now you might think, "His only got bla bla posts, his never taken action" - believe me, i've done everything i've been told, full-hearted.

I've come to the conclusion that i might need to seek out some sort of "mentoring". I've never asked for more than to see results within a reasonable period of time, like half a year. I've been working on the very same methods for well over 6 months at different given times, but i've never earned one single cent.

But behold - i've read "Think and grow rich". It has planted a seed of believe, a seed of a certainty that it will come to me with time. I simply just need the right guidance. I've got no specific marketing strategy in mind.

Whether anyone in this forum can help me or not, i'm here, trying my best at getting the information i need.

EDIT: I completely forgot to tell what i've been into. I've been promoting affiliate products, writing articles, posting classifields, working with ppc and other means like it - i've even tried offers through facebook groups.

I've spent hours and hours of working, perfecting, researching and what not. I've spent atleast $1500 that i can track down on ppc, paid traffic, programs and so on.

This leads me into thinking i need some one who i can actually sit down with (not litterally) and get everything together. My problem is too much information and no clarity on were to start and when to stop i guess.

Hey Brian - Interesting thread, and it's great to see what everyone's looking for from the forum.

Personally, I'm most interested in buying a comprehensive program that covers EVERYTHING that you need to do to set up your own business on the internet. It doesn't necessarily matter what that business is, but I'm fed up of being sold programs that are supposedly perfect for newbies and then, there are gaping holes in it, both in terms of the business strategy and the practicalities of setting it up.

Hey Im new to the forum... this is my 2nd time dabbling with IM the first time I had no direction and was a sucker to the "$25,000 in a week stories" which is possible but not for someone who has not been doing this for sometime. Now that this is my 2nd time trying it out (I started back with IM in Jan 2011) i kind of have a better idea and understanding of what to do

Im most interested in Email marketing, Sniper sites (wordpress blogs), Vid / facebook marketing. now that i have a better understanding of things my primary focus is to get better at DRIVING TRAFFIC to my squeeze pages/aff offers. which can be easy and hard at the same time.

I am not a newbie to internet businesses but I am quite new to IM.

I did a reassessment at the beginning of the year of my skills and how I wanted to change my business this year to bring in a more stable income and the main thing I am looking for here is information on traffic generation as this is the one skill I am seriously lacking in.

I have never been able to get a decent amount of traffic to my projects even though when the traffic gets there the conversion rate is excellent.

Other than that I want to meet people and discover new ideas for the future.

    Very interesting responses!

Blink Brian did indeed have the right angle....some newbies are precision focused on earning money, and when you do that, you become anxious, and then you become desperate. Trust me, I know.

Before being in business for money, you should consider being in business to provide solutions to people who are either running towards something (pleasure) or running away from something.(fear) These are your buyers.

They want to be 1 of 3 things ONLY - to be entertained, educated or enlightened.

If you can determine what product or service you can provide, then you are on the right track. Be of service. Give. Give til it hurts if you have to, and by that I mean, provide something of high perceived value at no cost to develop trust, because people only buy from people they trust.

People don't care about your product or service. They care about themselves and whether or not you can help them. Then they will care.

The logistics of getting set up and the answers you seek are here in the Warrior Forum and Warriors will help and answer your questions. Please don't spend a lot of money until you are clear in your direction.

Lastly, I encourage you to DEVELOP YOUR WHY. WHY are you pursuing online business ventures? WRITE IT DOWN and refer to it often. Make it so STRONG that it will see you through your frustrating times.

    Cheers!
    Terri/(

    Hi,
I'm 2 months old in the IM business. I always open for a new idea, as long as it sounds reasonable. I don't afraid to try new things and don't mind to fell in order to learn the lesson. I work very hard and I think I have learned a lot in this period of time. But still I didn't make any real money. I think it's very important to keep on moving as long as you really give things a chance.
I built a site with Dreameaver (my first one) and I'm currently doing ppc campaign for it. As for now, I only work with yahoo cause I got slapped by google a couple of days ago. It seems my site was to much affilate without any real value for visitors. Got to say I learned my lesson and though I add content (few articles) it didn't change a bit.
In WF forums I look for the wider picture of the business to open my mind to new things. I find myself reading lots of posts on this general IM forum. Got to say, lots of things comes to my mind when I read posts in WF I am sure I'l use in the near future. WF is a the real deal a true oasis.

I was a newbie not long ago. But the explosion of information and my natural crave for information took me up the learning curve easily. Wasn't exactly an easy method though.

Here are some valuable questions I asked myself. You're find them very useful.

-Where can I find something to decrease that gradient of the learning curve?
Eg. Learning of technical terms, types of marketing, advices, common pitfalls, traps, how to think out of the box

-What can ease my way up to an easy income?
Eg. BEST method to start, Easiest method to go

-How the hell do I do this ______ in perfection?
Eg. Well, I'm not sure about the majority, but I'm a definite perfectionist, so it really gets things boiling when I don't see perfection. For example, I was finding out how to "find the best niche" in a step-by-step process.

But I gave up on it and pieced up my own tutorial anyway.

      Good luck!

There are several ways, depend on your budget.

      Budget is not JUST MONEY.

      It is, TIME & Money.

You can just pay for some links on high PR Blogs, going rate seems about $50 a month for a PR6 or PR7?

5 or 6 of those and Google will start to like you.

      Or

Sit and find High Ranking Blogs and Sites, those that you can get a link on for free, Forums, Signitures. Put links to your SITE everywhere you can.

Make sure your site is SEO's well. Optimized for the words you may or may not be targetting.

Quality Material + Well SEO's - On & Off Page + Backlinks (The higher the PR the better)

      Equal

      Page Rank

You can either learn it yourself, or pay someone else.

I enjoy looking at over zealous newbies who have just made a couple of sales here and there yet talked like a seasoned pro. I just hope that they keep their head down while continue working even harder to reach a better stage before giving advises and motivations to others or worse talked others down. This kind of attitude really make me wanna laugh out loud....

I have been and continue to look for someone who can train me in wordpress design. I have offered money, no response. So for a forum that prides itself for help... I have found little in regards to wordpress design. The advice I have gotten is to pay someone to do it for you and that does nothing to help me in the long run.

Certainly based on the majority of emails I get, people want to know what's the easiest way to make money, preferably as quickly as possible. Nothing wrong with that, but honestly, particularly when you're first starting out, I don't believe that there's any substitute for starting with the basics and learning as much as you can first.

    I'm a "Newbie" too.
Just around here for a couple of days, and already completely love being here.

    Who am I?
I'm a 15 year old, just starting, internet marketeer. The past 2 weeks I spent on getting Information (also on this forum). Lee McIntyre and Kim Roach really helped me with their information!

    What am I looking for?
Someone who can help me start. I've got loads of information, but don't really know what to do now...

Hope that someone can help me!

Build niche Sites, use Amazon if you at 15 can find a way.

Learn Wordpress, just mess about with it.
Do 1 Niche site a week, every week, and in 3 years you will not need to work.
      $1 a day x 150 sites...

You are 15, you have plenty of time.

I'm pretty new here myself. What was I looking for when I found WF? Initially article marketing information and stuff about selling my own ebooks, so squeeze page information, that sort of thing.

Now? Just general stuff. My niche really has nothing to do with how to make money and internet marketing, nothing about computers or the latest software or even affiliate marketing.

BUT - I need to KNOW all this stuff anyway to keep growing my little business, right? And some of the best people I follow online have referred this forum so here I am.

The latest thing I heard about is doing a link wheel, which I "might" do and I might not do. I'm not sure it would be much of a benefit to my niche because it's so targeted. But it might work, so I'm keeping it on the back burner.

What did I pop in here for today? Information on creating a survey for my business to find out what my customer prospects are looking for when they land on my site through a link or an article or a Google search.

So that's my topic for today, what I'll be searching for or posting an inquiry about - creating a survey that works.

Well.. Plenty of time is not totally true

I don't really prefer your way, but I can see it will make you some good money .

"They" don't make it a 15 year old easy to make some money. Paypal account? 18+. Most of the CPA Networks? 18+.

Pretty much everything that has to do with money will be 18+.. But well, problems are there to be solved!

I have been trying to make good money online to supplement my pension for several years now. I am past my first $1 doing affiliate marketing. I have bought so many IM products, programs and expensive memberships but I still haven't made good money. Good money for me is very simple, having a profit=sales-expenses. My problem is consistently "traffic" to my sites. Last year I paid for a very expensive course and did PPC. However my adwords cost were running so high, more than my sales. I stopped and recuperate for several months. Now, I picked up my business again. What I am looking to warrior forum NOW, are recommendations as to reputable IM products and services. I am so tired of paying for junk. I am looking for success stories because I know there's good money to be made online.

      Just stick around this forum....

Learn and Implement Internet Marketing Skills is the best way and newbies do not take the time. Someone told them it is fast and easy.

The internet is such a large platform from which to market. To make money online, one must have a web presence, be found and then sell something.

That can be so simple and it is. That can be so difficult and it is.

Got interested in making money online when I realized I could get a second job without leaving the house. And teenagers were making a million off blogs/whatever, if they could do it SURELY I could, right?

Turns out I'm a lot more cynical and risk averse than teenagers, and I have less time. I want to write, but the pay rates are horrifying for beginners. Still feeling my way with that, but I am committed to a full-time income via my computer and IM seems to be the best way to go, long term. So I'm here looking for information I can use to that end, hopefully bypassing beginner pitfalls.

Just having a hard time choosing a niche I care enough about to stick with. I'm not the kind of person who can just pick any old thing, I wish I were.

But to answer your question the one thing I always get s "How do you do that and can you show me hot to do that." And good way to start making some quick cash is to use sites like Odesk.com and vWorker. I actually do very well with vWorker. But others say oDesk.

And the greatest thing to do is just try something and see what directions they bring you in. It is a huge world with wonderous things in it. Don't focus on the money as much. Just focus on getting out in the game and see what is thrown at you.

    Hi

Im looking for information thats jargon free and simple to follow. I find video training works best for me where I can just follow the instruction and go. I have used e guides but I am always left with unanswered queries and only half on idea of how the product works. The best way by far for me are step by step video guides. I can pause and play as many times as I need to which is great for me.

I want legitimate information on how to make real money online. Im a realist Im not looking to make a $million in a week but a nice steady passive income would be great. I want legitimate, detailed and thorough information on how to drive traffic to websites as well. I say 'legitimate, detailed and thorough' because unfortunately there are so so so many products out there that are non of those things.

vWorker.com and oDesk.com are work for hire sites that offer a large range of job. They offer everything from $4.00 - $10,000.00 jobs for everything from doing reviews to customer service and more.

Currently I did a job for a hosting company. I took photos for a woma for her web site, I am currently working on ghostwriting an ebook and doing a side project to edit a video course.

Using these sites are great. I have used them in the past to get work done but decided to start my hand at dong work for people and I am having a great time. It is amazing to see what some people will want to have one.

Check them out even if it is to get ideas for new products or a service you can offer.

Interesting question... Newbies are looking to make money on internet (yeah I know duh!)...

But as newbies they don't know exactly how, and in their ignorance thinking that internet marketing is easier and instantaneous, they seek for the push button solution, the all done for you system, the instant rich method, the autopilot software...

I know because I've been there.

Ok we all need a proven method that works, but more than that we all need to learn the basic stuff. That basic knowledge that never will change no matter how many fixes Google make to his algorithm, no matter how many web 2.0, 3.0 or X.0 came out to the market.

The basic content that always will tell you that 1+1 = 2

So as eternal newbie I'm always looking to dominate the basic knowledge that can be scalate in time and expanded.

    but... that's just me...

I spent hours and hours on forums trying to find the right products to get going with.

I was lucky to find something before I wasted too much time and money; selling leads in Finance for up to £70 a go.

I'd certainly recommend it. I was a newbie when I started, ans its the only thing I have ever done. No credit card submits, pay per sale, just up front payment every time.

All newbies what you have to do is follow anyone case study..if you don't under the technical bit than just google it and youtube it you will find it out how the simple systems works..

What you have to do is make a plan and write it down into the paper..ok.

Than look for niche..do you understand what is niche..niche is similar to market...for example cell phone is niche, car is niche and so on.

Pick a niche which have medium competition and you need to have competition, competition is good..

Than write an article on your niche and publish into squioo lens and than start marketing the squioo lens..

Marketing can be done from article marketing, video marketing, forum marketing and so on..but focus one marketing at a time..don't jump into all the marketing in one go. Give time to one marketing method at lead one month one marketing..

See you won't make thousands of dollar from one niche but if your one niche is successful and than you can follow the exact the marketing techniques to your new niche..

Put on action, yes you need to apply what ever you learn until you don't experience it what ever you learn..than you don't know nothing about that particular marketing..

I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

if i knew then what i know now i would have never, ever considered im, did i say ever!
it was going to be so easy to make "millions" on the web..

damn that opra show. i was watching the opra show with my wife when these sub-twenty year olds had sold there im companies for mega millions, and that got me interested. and thats when it all started. damn them...

but you know what, after you learn what is just bs sales hype and what may be legit there really is a million and one ways to earn a great living off the web. you have to find that one way that you are comfortable with.

for me it is adsense - why? because it can all be farmed out.

some folks may like more hands on type stuff like promoting offers be it cpa or klick bank.

some may like the idea of creating the best product out their and have the people i mentioned above promote them for them. (this make everybody happy!)

some people like to create beautiful websites that have tons of traffic and rent space out to the people promoting stuff...

some people are thinkers....they think about making money on line and then teach you (for profit)

any how you are starting to get the point, there really is a million ways to make a great living on the web. just like curley said in city clickers said..."find that one thing"

      The funny thing is IM is just like every other aspect of life, we are learning EVERY day. The trick is, like has been said, find something that;

      1 - WORKS
      2 - YOU CAN DO
      3 - YOU ENJOY DOING

      The Rest, well that's easy.

What a revelation this topic is...

Made me think about the whole IM. It seems that so many people are lured by the successful IMers (which is their job - to lure).

Looks like people are having hard time to understand that IM is like professional football. You can try, but unless you're tall or strong enough, you will fail. If you like gardening, don't go into football. Or, at least, you can produce the lawn for the game. And earn millions in that.

I'm a newbie myself, but what I've learned from life is:
    1. Do what you like and enjoy. Do what you have talent for.
    2. Model the successful. Does Frank Kern do article marketing? Does Tony Robbins do SEO? Does Eben Pagan do autoblogging? The answers speak for themselves.

What seems to be the focus here is to focus on a product or service and promote it. The reviews section is really good because you'll get an idea of what works and what doesn't. Then go pick a product, or create a product and start your promotions. In the beginning, you may have to do the marketing yourself, but as you start getting sales, you can outsource the job to other people.
