Specifically, where you can then get the interview recorded file and then upload it to your website?

Thoughts/Opinions/Advice?

Try Skype with Pamela to record. Skype can do offline phone calls too, and very cheaply (I call US for 2 cents/ minute).

Skype official website – free download and free calls and internet calls
    http://Pamela.com (I think)

Pamela is made for use with Skype.

I have to agree with Kevin, Pamela is one slick program that actually works better than advertised. I recommend the Pro version as there is more functionality.

I record my interviews over Skype with it and it has amazing quality!

Not to mention all the cool sound effects you can insert on the fly, as your interview is going on (audience laughing, etc...)

Every time I mention John Reese I hit the (Boo, boo) effect... LOL

My personal preference is Skype plus CallGraph.

      Hey John,

have you ever used their transcription service? How is it? They say on the site that they transcribe at 50 cents per minute.

No, not yet, I have someone who already does all my
transcription. But I might try them out on my next
        recording.

Chris here is an excellent and detailed video about using Skype and getting very high quality recordings. Pointed out by Josh Anderson in another thread here earlier.

Ok Guys...here is the problem....I will be interviewing people in my local Chamber of Commerce -- they don't have skype and don't want to fuss over installing it just to do an interview.

P.S. I do have a voice recorder and notice that the resulting file is a .VOC which is RCA Voice recorder. I HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT HOW TO TAKE THE .VOC and make it an mp3 file.

    Thoughts?

      They don't need Skype.

You simply ring their normal phone lines using Skype
and you record the interview using Callgraph or
whichever other recording add-on you choose.

  • Call graph is easy to use, and free.

    I second that.

Just found a website that converts all files...which I think would be perfect for face to face interviews... and then I'll upload the mp3 to the page to give my client some great advertising...

Media Convert - free and on line - convert and split sound, ringtones, images, docs - MP3 WMV 3GP AMR FLV SWF AMV MOV WMA AVI MPG MP4 DivX MPEG4 iPOD PSP OGG WMA AAC MP4 MPC MMF QCP KAR MIDI REALAUDIO FLAC JPG PSD DOC PDF RTF TXT ODG ODP ODS ODT SXW

    Hope this helps

  • I swear, I should be a skype salesmen.

Recently I've been trying my hand at the local market, and have been in touch with a variety of business owners and "high ups".

Some way or another, skype gets brought up, and a majority of people I talk to don't know what it is, or how useful it can be. A quick flick of the wrist, a laptop later, and I'm positive those same people were fiendishly downloading the basic version, only to upgrade later.

It's an immensely useful tool at a great price.

One other suggestion: Free Conference Call, Phone Conferencing, Teleconferences - FreeConferenceCall.com You can record calls in .wav format for free and I've never had a problem over *multiple* interviews.

yeah, that would be interesting to see. You can't beat that price. But I bet you the turnaround is not as fast.
