Is there any Special "Secret" to get Testimonials?

Guys,.... I have tried it "almost" all.

People send me emails telling me how much they liked my products but when I ask them for a Video or Audio testimonials, they never do it. (i totally discard TEXT testimonials because people in Portuguese and Spanish countries *KNOW* these are made up and NOT real).

I have offered them things for free in exchange ...but it doesn't work.

Can you give some tips, please? Do I have to offer them MONEY????

Thanks!

Yes, many people on fiverr.com are willing to do that. But apparently people in Portuguese and Spanish countries don't realize that video testimonials can also be fabricated as easily as text testimonials simply by outsourcing. Obviously though, the very most professional material shouldn't be expected from those kinds of gigs. ..not to disregard text though. All it takes to verify the authenticity of a testimonial is to provide a legitimate email address and maybe a link to their own website.

There's got to be a way of having a higher success rate from your actual customers to give you a genuine testimonial though. Are you following up with them? I think most people would feel compelled to want something in return for creating something like that for you, regardless whether they've been a previous customer or not. Maybe if you conducted some kind of poll among your customers to see which ones even HAVE a camcorder or a web cam to even be able to give you a video testimonial. That way, at least you have a more narrow selection of leads to whom you can propose the idea more personally.

99% in fiver will not deliver quality and its clearly seen after you get testimonial thats its fake!
You will never get a quality testimonial for 5!
It should cost at least 70$ for 1 video, and mostly can be found only in freelancer sites as guru.com freelancer.com etc.
    Thank you.

I'm sorry, but if you have to pay someone to give you a testimonial for a product, you shouldn't consider selling it yet.

That might not be a popular opinion, but spend more time improving your product - it will benefit you more in the long run.

My thoughts exactly - your product needs to be good enough to stand on its own, and garner testimonials without having to pay people for them. If you feel like you need to buy "genuine" testimonials, then perhaps you may need to go back to the drawing board and revamp your product to make it better.

Agreed 100%, although I am guilty in the past of doing this myself.

Try actually providing a tutorial for how they can use windows recorder [surprised how many people do not know it exist]

1). Ensure you mic is connect to PC
2). Click the windows icon on the bottom left task bar.
3). Type 'sound recorder' in the search bar.
4). When the recorder pops up you should see a bar that fluctuates when you speak. If it does then this means it is work.
5). Click record and then start to give your testimonial.
6). When you click stop a pop up will ask you to save the recorder, save this to your desktop.
7). Email this recording to me [give specific email address, subject line, etc.

Note: Give them instructions on exactly what to say [pointers] so they are not spending time re-recording or stuck for words.

The fact people are writing to you and saying they like what you sell is encouraging. I appreciate you disregard the text versions because of the way they're perceived where you are.

It could be that people don't want their face on camera. Could you perhaps do a brief interview and record it and allow people to listen to the testimonials? You could ask for audio testimonials and add that to a video that is promoting the product. That way the potential customer is looking (watching) how great the product is while "listening" to a happy customer saying how great it is.

In fact, I think I'll start doing this myself.

Here is an alternative to get testimonials easy and with great sound quality.

        1) Call them to their phone or cellphone with the Online SpaxPhone (Facebook App) (Spax Phone is about 40% cheaper than SkypeOut).

        2) Use the free recorder that comes with the SpaxPhone (saves it with excellent sound quality to a .wav file)

I use this also to create infoproduct (interviews with experts) with great sound.

        here is spax phone:

You can let your clients know that if they do a testimonial - you will feature them in an upcoming presentation which will be viewed by many people (ideally tens of thousands). Encourage them to say their domain name in their testimonial and let them know that doing it is a huge way to gain exposure to their own business.

If you have a quality product - my advice is to head over to some of the top forums in your niche.

Contact a few of the top posters in the forum and ask for them to review it for you.

Obviously give them a FREE copy for their trouble - or what you could do is contact the forum owner and explain what your product is etc...

Make it clear that you could put their forum on your main sales page as a testimonial and that would mean they get more traffic.

This is the way I have always done this with good results.

Don't discard text because it works. Just ask them for
permission to use their emails as a testimonial so that they
don't have to do any extra work. Make sure to include their
website or pic or mail address this way the testimonials are
    believable

    Thanks,

Testimonials can be a powerful traffic generation technique so remind others with a website that they will get a free back link and an opportunity to promote their website in the testimonial i.e. "my name is xxxx and I run xxxxx.com using this great xxxx product)
