I'm making a website for some friends and have a small problem.

I am using worpress and want widgets to show up in the sider bar in the posts, they show in pages but not posts.

I have tried putting a widget into each available widget space and nothing the website is not being cached so it cant be that.

there are no options in theme options or post for me to be able to activate widgets.

Please can anyone help me?

Here is a post with no widget: Search Engine Optimisation

Here is a page with widgets: Contact

Thanks

Hello Ricky. When you are on the "Widgets" page in WP Admin, you will be able to see a sidebar (check my post attachment). You can place widget in "Single main" to show in posts. If you are not having that sidebar in the "Widgets" page then there is a possibility that your theme isn't supporting this. You have to edit the code of the theme. The sidebar will vary according to the theme.

      Thanks for the reply!

I have done that (see attached) I have added it into all 3 of the 'Single' options, but the only one that shoes is the bottom ones!

Any ideas on the code i'll need to add? the theme I am using is Sulaco.

      Thanks

This could be the way the theme has been created.
Is it a premium theme, one that is free with wordpress installation, a custom theme or modifications that you have done, etc.

The more clearer info the easy to find a solution. Best is to email or go to the blog of the theme provider or Google the problem with the theme name

Just quickly, some widgets will not show until they have been utilized or populated in some way, such as Recent Posts won't show if you have no posts.

Could this be the case with your site?

This has been the case with me. You have to first put something into the widget area for it to show up. Otherwise area stays blank.

Good point dgridley. For example if the widget is for "advertisement" then you must place the advertisement code in order to make the widget appear.

Anyways, the problem is with your theme. It isn't supporting the widget.

I'm having the opposite problem he's having.. I have widgets that are showing up, such as the Meta widget and don't see any way to remove it.

I've even changed themes thinking that might be it but it doesn't show any widgets as having been installed, yet there they are. I'm going to check and see if they are hardcoded into the sidebar.

It appears as if your post template has no sidebar. The widgets are below the content, not on the side. Could be a theme setting or just the way the theme is made.

Themes usually have default settings if you don't add a widget. To clear what is there, drag a text widget(blank) into the widgets and it will go away.

Ah c'mon. I can't be that stupid. Have fixed these kind of widget errors thousands of times. Scroll down to the page and you will be able to see the widgets. It is just the width problem. Open style.css and decrease the width of center frame or main frame (whatever its name is) by like 10 or 20 px. It should fix the problem in no time.

Your theme is putting a full-width content area with no sidebars on what it thinks are portfolio pages. THERE IS NO SIDEBAR on your single post template. The widgets below are designed to be just that - below the content.

Contact the theme developer or try to find some documentation on how the theme works.

This is the same thing. Look at the screenshot I attached in my previous post. You can see "Single - Main", "Single- Left", "Single - Right".

If you will place something in Single - Left and Single - Right then it will show just like as in the theme preview. If you will put nothing in Single Left and Single Right but only put something in Single Main then it will show up just like it is now for you.
