Great video. But does this mean I have to have hosting to create new facebook pages like the one you showed, or is there away to host the page directly on facebooks servers?

Yes, you will need hosting. You might even be able to iframe a free type of site like Wordpress.com, Tumblr, or Squidoo but I haven't tried that yet.

The easiest thing to do is create a separate blog specifically for your Facebook content (with a width of 500 or less) and just iframe that.

Hi Paul. Is it acceptable to reference your video by supplying a link to my clients? I had planned on doing a quick tutorial for them, this would save me time - if you allow it

That's a great way to do it, but how do you set the tab to show when the user first lands on the fan page? I believe they disabled that feature a while back.

You can still set it up to have your iFrame (or any other tab) be the default landing page and the fist thing someone sees when they visit your page. You asked a great question and I actually got the same question from a few other people so I just recorded a quick second video showing you how to make it work.

I added the second video to the same page.

    great update thank you.

Just another quick question When I was using FBML there was away to show a certain image and then only reveal what was underneath when someone clicked the like button.
here is a quick example of what I mean howtogeta6pack click like to see what I mean then you can unlike at the bottom left of the page.

is it still possible to do this with the iFrames?

I have the same question. I thought that I read somewhere that you could but I wanted to ask you because you obviously know your stuff. I just watched the videos and they were very informative and very easy to follow.

If you can, I was hoping that you could knock out another video to help us newbies.

        Hey Paul,

I looked at the video and you did an outstanding job developing it. This was probably one of the simplest explanations of how to do this I have seen on the basic setup.

        Appreciate your efforts.

I will do a video on that next and will put it on the same page for you.

Also, thanks to everyone for the nice comments.

It's so funny that the guys at GetFreeFBAds are actually selling a software on creating fan pages with FBML when it's going to disappear very soon. Thanks for the video man, keep it up

Thanks for this video, I'm off to watch it now. I agree, it's sheer stupidity that the GetFreeFBAds guys designed their software to create FBML pages, making the product instantly obsolete in a few days. If they don't do something quickly to fix this, they'll end up with a whole slew of angry customers who'll want refunds for software that doesn't work anymore!

FBML will still work for existing users, there just won't be any "new" applications for it. I can't post a hyperlink yet (not enough posts) but here is the quote from facebook.

" We will begin supporting IFrames for Page tabs in the next few months. Developers building canvas applications should start using IFrames immediately. By the end of this year, we will no longer allow new FBML applications to be created, so all new canvas applications and Page tabs will have to be based on IFrames and our JavaScript SDK. We will, however, continue to support existing implementations of the older authentication mechanism as well as FBML on Page tabs and applications. "

    QUESTION...

I followed the instructions in the video. Everything seemed fine until
I click the tab to bring the page into the iframe... then I get the following:

    *** snip ***

    Method Not Allowed

The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /ductales/index.htm.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at nothing here Port 80

    *** snip ***

This is puzzling to me because the POST command refers to forms
if I'm not mistaken and there is no form involved. My hosting company
doesn't seem to know what the problem might be.

The page I'm trying to bring into the iframe is located at

    http://www.myprivatesites.info/ductales

Anyone have an idea what I might be doing wrong?

    Thanks...
