Educational Videos/Webinars/Presentation thoughts....

Hi all,
I am planning on producing webinars for profit. Right now, I'm still in the "planning" phase of this venture. What I'm planning today is content. Obviously, I know topics well and so I do have a bit to say about them..but...

I'd like to know how others here do it. How do you flesh out your topics?

I read an advertisement the other day where someone was claiming to be able to do several weeks worth of content in just a few moments of brainstorming (or was that mind mapping ?)

What process do you video folks use when creating content for video and organizing it?

Mind mapping is a good before you start writing content.

I use mind mapping (if you want to learn more about it get some products from Tony Buzan) for getting my main and sub topics for the content, then I make the structure with hierarchy. After that I start writing whatever comes to my mind related to that topic, important part in here is to just sit and start writing instead of just trying to think something perfect.
Mind mapping is also a good tool to use if you can't think about some topics or ideas.

For a webinar I would use the same structure as for the article, mostly. Have you written any articles before?

Choose a topic that you want to teach people about. Then sit down for 15 minutes and jot down everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, you know about that topic, regardless of any order or importance.

After you can't think of anything, anymore, look at what you have written. Can you group thoughts as sub topics? Do it! After you have quite a list of subtopics, try to put them into an order that it makes sense to cover them in.

And yes, a mind map is probably best to organize your thoughts, after you are done with the brainstorming process :-)

    Thanks to both of you,
I haven't written an article before, I've got lots yet to learn!

I think I've got my own "tools" for a mind map. Came about by accident. I was on a trip recently and all my flights were cancelled for three days. During those three days everytime I had a thought about one of my topics, I ran to my computer and added it to one of my documents. Finally made it home, printed out my documents so that I could organize them and felt very overwhelmed. Pages worth of random one liners, sometimes one word cues.... Seriously an organizational nightmare and I didn't know where to begin. So I didn't. I just put them in my file as is.

Later I was cleaning up my desk, came across a new, unopened 400 count package of sticky notes (like post-its). Aha. I was set. Grabbed my favorite brilliant blue marker and started writing. I think my hand was going faster than I've ever written before. Each page, a new thought. When I got done, I compared them to what I had entered in my computer. Hadn't missed anything at all. Then I went to the wall, and started sticking them in place. It seems like they organized themselves! Topics and subtopics quickly became apparent to me. Super easy to move them around if I needed to.

I've just become a super fan of sticky notes!

So does everyone else brainstorm with pen/paper? Computer? Am I totally strange for doing this? It will be a rinse and repeat kinda thing for me.
