Article marketing tips?

Hey warriors, i've got a short and quick question regarding article marketing. I'm about to start writing articles for my blog and also submit them to article directories.

My question is, if i post an article on my blog, can i submit that same article to the article directories linking back to my blog?
I've heard about duplicate content...would that be the case?

I don't want to start off on the wrong foot and end up getting the google slap.

Any help or info would be much appreciated,
Thanks.

 I think this question gets asked once a week, maybe more. Let me introduce you to the Search function of Warrior Forum. Look up, it is the third 'white on red' option from the right.

Alexa should be here any moment....

    Take it away, Alexa!

Most article directories would have no problem with that (a few do, like Buzzle.com).

If your goal is to attract visitors from your distributed article back to your blog, you will want to try some variations like offering incomplete information on the syndicated piece with a link for more info back to your blog (or making the distributed version a 'Part 1' with Part 2 on your blog), or having a compelling resource box to invite readers to get more of the same on your blog.

'Duplicate content' that's penalized is the kind where you have substantially similar content on the SAME site e.g. 3 different versions of the SAME article with minimal changes, all published on your blog itself.

An example might be if you write an article that teaches a system to build a business, and then preface it with "A guide for plumbers on how to build a business" on a page for plumbers, and one with "A guide for carpenters on how to build a business" on another page designed to attract carpenters - with the rest of the content being identical.

The only downside to distributed content being identical to what's on your blog is that search engines will NOT display ALL versions of the content across multiple sites, but will only list ONE (or few) of them so their users get a better search experience. That's indeed one good reason to do what you can to ensure the version of your article on YOUR blog will outrank any distributed version of your article - including publishing it on your blog first before distributing it.

But there are many different ways to do it, test it and find what works best for YOU.

    Hope this helps

    All success

Don't be afraid to make mistake.

Do some testing, I think you can spin the article instead of submitting duplicate content.

google does not treat as duplicate content. Duplicate content's just myth. However it's recommended to rewrite your original article or content before submitting to article directories minimum 50% in order to get significant rank

Yes, most article directories will accept it no problem at all. I would just change the title of the article and the keywords around a bit that would still be relevant to you niche so that way it would not directly compete with the article on your site and might get some traffic form people using slightly different search terms. And also don't link it to the same article on your site as people will say: 'I just read that' and leave.
