Sweet mother, that was a quick response GeorgR, barely hit submit.

I get the feeling you're right, US only now, was previously offered in
    the UK but withdrawn.

    Annoying as hell.

      This is right, Simon.

It was available here, but withdrawn a few months ago. People here who already have one are allowed to use them until they expire (I think the last ones will run out about April/May this year).

They say they're negotiating with a new debit-card supplier and hoping to re-introduce them "at some point", but have been saying this for ages. I'm not holding my breath.

I'd really like one, I must say ...

Anyone who previously had a paypal debit card, was mailed a new shinny mastercard, in July...I got mine and its fantastic, although some of the limits are a bit low..

I had an email from PayPal about it and got my card last week. It's going to save me transferring money to my bank account all the time.

Sorry, I'm new here so what exactly are the benefits of a Paypal debit card? What can it do that a credit card can't do?

The big benefit is being able to use the money in your PayPal account in places where you couldn't before such as online shops who don't accept paypal (you just use your card) and physical shops. You don't need to transfer money to your bank account first.

I have one, and use it all the time.

You draw money directly from your PayPal account (need a £ balance to do so, will not convert from $ balance)

£2 cash withdrawal fee, no charge to use it as a debit card.

    Hope this helps.

I think they stopped offering that back in 2010, unfortunately.

EDIT: Reading some of the other posts here, maybe I was wrong, or perhaps the other posters are speaking of a different card.

Prior to the PayPal access card (Mastercard) there was the PayPal Prepaid Debitcard (Visa) run by RBS. With that one, you had to load it up by paying out of your paypal balance, and didn't have direct access to your PP account.

That might be the one you were referring to.

      Kindest regards,
      Karl.

      Is it really?

You can apply if you click on one of the links above. It seems that at least one of these two links are safe. I shall hope so. I just applied following one of the links above.

    Goodmorning to everyone,

I've found this interesting thread thanks to Google and since many of you are experts in this subject I hope I can obtain a little consulence

I'm planning a little trip to UK and I'm actually in possession of a PayPal Debit Card released in Italy ( MasterCard circuit, rechargable).
As far as I can found, on the paypal.uk website there is no documentation of this card, but ( and this was confirmed reading this thread ) there is a slightly different version ( always in the MasterCard circuit ).

My concern is about usability of my card when I'll be there: is it possible to use normally? Or maybe since PayPal didn't offer the same thing in the UK my card would be considered unusable?

Thanks in advance for your time, and please beg my english.

I've got one and it's brilliant that you don't have to wait 4 days for transfer to your bank account. Link to UK one is below:
    https://www.paypal-marketing.co.uk/accesscard/index.htm
No charges for purchasing goods but do charge £2 for withdrawing cash at ATM's

Thank you Koolsteve for the link and for your feedback.

There are very few differences between the one offered in Italy and the one offered in UK.
As far as I can understand now, it-version could be used without problems in UK.
