Bounce Rate

Not sure whether this should go in the SEO forum or here..

Anyway...could "Bounce Rate" seen as a quality indicator for a web site?

(By the way i think this doesn't work for all kinds of sites, eg. sales pages seem to show a high bounce rate as opposed to blogs etc....the bounce rate might be high then although you sold your product...)

But if someone has a blog...and let's say bounce rate is at 80%...probably an indication to do more so visitors stay longer on the site?

    From what I've personally gathered the bounce rate simply reflects the percentage of users that came to your site and left without clicking on any of your content. This also means that they simply showed up, clicked on an advertisement and left.

    It does also indicate that users could be hitting your page and then bouncing out by hitting the back button.

    In most cases a high bounce rate would be bad.

      George,

      Back Button Bailout is a factor that matters.

      If you click on a serp link and 3 seconds later you're back on the serp that is taken into account.

    high bounce rate = excellent.

    my bounce rate was 95%+ before I sold it. As soon as someone arrived at my site becuase i positioned my banner in a great position i got a very high CTR so they went straight to the merchant site as soon as they arrived at my site and 6-10% ordered the product i was selling (regcure).
