Hosting 20 Domains Under Hostgator Share Account Ok?

Hi,

so im just wondering if hosting like 20 domains under one hostgator shared account plan effects seo or not. It seems like each domain I add on to my hosting package is simple a sub domain. Like all of my domains are in the "public_html" folder of my main domain. Does this effect seo? Thanks

Eh, I don't think it should matter. You would end up being on the same i.p. address regardless of the hosting anyhow.

Hello, I have to disagree with some folks on the seo aspect. I had 17 domains with them and as soon as I bought a higher package and received ssl certificates and various dedicated ip's, I gained page rank in two days. The blogs had been pr0 and they went to pr1 in 48 hours.

I went with the business package they had. Another tip, if you run something like firestorm seo from Sean Donahoe on those blogs, you eventually will have to move to a different server level. The shared hosting will not handle the traffic with that many domains.

They have ok hosting, I moved to a vps level 9 there. The traffic was to high for the business plan.

Google only updates their PR once every 3++ months or so. So there is a really good chance your sites would have updated regardless of the hosting change.

I understand but, they didn't do any movement for pr for a year and bammo! Just as soon as I changed some things around they moved up. Go figure on that. I am only a humble reporter, and say what I see. I cannot prove what happened to my pr, but that's a mystery of life.

The pr may not make much difference but, if the OP plans to run any resource intensive scripts or the like, he will need to go on a higher server level. That is something that would be provable for me, I blew out servers left and right and ended up on the vps 9 to handle the load. This tip will help anyone.

Yes, it seems so: on every previous occasion (I've seen) that it's been discussed here, more people say "it doesn't matter" than say "it does matter".

That concerns me a little, in principle, because pretty often the majority turns out to be wrong, when it's a well debated yes/no question. But I have no opinion of my own worth repeating, on this one. It may be that we'll never know with certainty, anyway.
