Anyone make money from Adsense?

I keep hearing horror stories about peoples adsense account getting deleted once payment threshold is reached.

I want to get my feet wet with having ads on my website so that in the future when I have some number of traffic, I can go on to adsense.

Any recommendations?

Anyone make decent money like this?

I wouldn't avoid Adsense simply because you think that people's accounts get deleted when you reach the threshold. Plenty of people make money from Adsense, I get paid by them every month like clockwork.

That said, to avoid getting your account suspended it's really important that you read their TOS. In general, you should never ask people to click ads, don't put ads in a space that makes them look like they aren't ads (i.e. trying to trick people into thinking it's a nav bar) and put them on sites that have quality content (i.e. more than just a few pages).

Many people make very good money with Adsense. There are really only two ways to successfully monetize IMO. You either have a big authority like site with a ton of traffic or you have a huge network of "micro-niche sites" that make up your bread and butter.

I have a mix of both really. I currently have several micro-niche sites and two large authority sites, one of which has been submitted for inclusion into Google news.

My authority sites by-far make more money per day and are easier to manage and update which means they get shown the most love. I'll probably dump my other micro-sites or sell them off later this year.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

if you have a network of micro niche sites then you'd better be careful. I say this from personal experience as I was lucky enough to get a warning from Adsense rather than being banned.

Thing is, my content was high quality. I wrote it myself (I am a writer) and it delivered value. More than a lot of micro niche sites. But there were only 5 pages, the Adsense was the most prominent thing at the top of the page, and it made use of a famous template for micro niche sites. All or one of these factors definitely caused Google to take note and disable ads on the site (my highest earning site too!)

So I took Adsense of any site that could be considered remotely "thin" - I just didn't want to risk getting banned.

I use a CPM network on one of my sites that involves celebs. I like being paid $3 to $4 per thousand impressions, but it was also a royal pain to get accepted to the network. I've been trying to get into Tribal Fusion for months as well, but I the niche doesn't seem well liked by them.

There is Bidvertiser which works the same as Adsense. The payment threshold is lower though and if they did not changed the payout limit it is around $10. Bring quality content and dont click on your own ads, two of the few things you should keep in mind when serving ads.

There are many people who make money by Adsense. However one has to be very careful. First of all, read their Terms and site quality rules. Google is famous for closing accounts. So there is a risk of account closure. However if you comply with all their terms then there is nothing much to worry. You could also try some alternatives like Chitika or Bidvertiser. There are many options.
