How Would you Spend $1000 Getting traffic?

I thought this would be a fun thread that could potentially provide a lot of
value.

So I basically have a $1,000. I want to use it to get traffic/build a list. If you
were me, how would you spend the money?

I would spend it on little bit seo, link building so I can get long term traffic and build a list continuously.

I would find high traffic niche related blogs/sites and pay for a few guest posts. I would also begin an SEO campaign to work on my organic search result placement. I would outsource forum marketing and try to canvas as many niche-specific forums as I could.

Depending on the niche I would run banner ads with the Project Wonderful network. I would also spend some cash on getting a stellar squeeze page and copy written and then sit back, tweak and test.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

I'd spend $500 On Outsourcing and $500 on supplies to go fishing for a few days.

Everybody wins and I get to go fishing.

I may even cut the outsourcing down to $400 just in case the weather is really good.

    Take care

Depends on what it is your selling.. but I'd more than likely blow it on AdWords and track and split test all traffic.

By the end I'm sure there'd be some winning keywords in there.

Facebook ads don't work for every niche...

Spend it on SEO, or adwords.

I'd invest in magic submitter and build my own links. I'd also outsource a couple dozen articles and Press releases. Then I'd buy into a blog network like seolv, MAN, linkvana, articleranks etc.
This will get you ton of ongoing traffic... I know it will because that's exactly what I did.

I would spend on CPV traffic, a bit on some link building services, and facebook ads. I wouldn't focus on 1 traffic source only

That's pretty easy because we follow the same system for every one of our websites - we spend some initial cash (not usually $1000, sometimes less than $100, sometimes more...) on ads that test a combination of keyword, ad headline and landing page copy - once we get something that works, we can roll out massive content, but until you get the right combo of keyword and landing page that converts decently, you would be wasting the $1000 as well as your time (which could be worth far more!)

  • hi,

if I only had $1000 to spend, and it was specifically for advertising, then I would start off small , run a test to figure out which advertising converted and earn me more than I spent, and then I would scale it up and spend the $1000.

Bottom line is, a lot of folks don't think twice about spending $20 or $40 on forum backlinks!
Most folks do this multiple times in a month without really realizing or accounting for the amount of money spent purchasing backlinks over time..

Also, problem is, forum backlinks disappear (removed, site banned, account closed etc) over time.

With $1k, I'd definitely "invest" a fraction of that in homepage backlinks (longevity and strong possibility of ranking), then do further keyword research to find less competitive keywords in my niche to rank the same site for.

With multiple keywords ranking and getting organic traffic for the same domain, you broaden the possibility of increased sales/conversions.

I'd also buy into blog / article networks, outsource the writing of unique articles to post to these networks.

Finally, I'd purchase traffic from expired domains... there are a few networks that offer targeted niche specific traffic from a country of your choice without spamming your domain/s with banned IPs and run of the mill traffic.

A couple of months back I targeted specific forums related to my niche, emailed the mods to run banners on their forums for a specific amount, and the results showed me there is potential in this type of generating traffic.

Depending on your niche, you may also want to invest in a good viral script (friend refer type) and install that on your website...

    Hope this helps.

    Rain.

I would spend about a quarter of that amount on buying targeted leads. With the other money I would probably outsource a few high quality articles, spend a little on SEO, and banner ads.

I'd probably spend a third of it on seo backlinking and the rest on ppc..probably with facebook ads if you're just starting out (since it's so easy to work with facebook ads as a beginner).

But it really depends on your business...what are you selling, what are your funnel processes etc..

I would spend the whole 1000 bux on a 3000 click solo ad which should bring me around 1200-1500 opt-ins and I would build a relationship with that list and then I would have "traffic on tap" just waiting to "flood" my paid offers or affiliate offers...

    Thats just me though

Personally what I'd do is build a targeted website and squeeze page that gets a high quality score on AdWords. Then I'd put say $500 towards AdWords to build my list and track which keywords get the best ROI.

Then I'd create silo's for these keywords and put the remaining $500 into a backlinking campaign to push these onto page #1 on Google... in order to then get ongoing free traffic from the SE's that converts. Just my 0.02 worth.

    Hope that helps,

    David.
