Blatant copying of a book by an internet marketer (You will be found out)

I'm sure alot of you guys are familiar with an excellent book known as Web Copy That Sells by Maria Veloso. It was one of the best books I've read for learning to writing sales copy online, because it has step-by-step blueprints as well as checklists and everything to help people who are just starting out.

So, when I recently picked up a copy of a product known as The Cash PreSell Method, I was reading through it and started noticing a few similarities. Then, I was shocked to find that large portions of this ebook were copied word for word from Web Copy That Sells.

Yes, the guy added a few of his own tid-bits here and there. But he stole most of it word for word, including the Blueprint, some of the writing on Psychological Devices, the Fundamental Rules, and the section on Headlines.

Normally, I would just leave this sorta thing alone. There are lots of IM products out there that are just re-writes of other products. But, I couldn't let this one go, seeing that there are a fair amount of top IMers promoting this product and saying good things about it.

This irks me the most (from the sales page):

"Yes, to skyrocket your conversions and rake in loads more cash I'm only asking $27.

This is for the 'Cash Presell Method' BLUEPRINT that has taken months of my painstaking 'puzzling it out' time and frustration."

More like a few days to copy large portions of someone else's book. If people think they can just copy and paste stuff without anyone noticing, they are mistaken. If you do it, you will be found out.

    Prosecution is the answer.
Except the seeming auto purhase the PLR, then he could go free.

You see, a lot of quick-fix IMters would take to the immediate method of making money. This is not it as they fail soonest.

You start small, study, learn, implement and put up a product from what you have practiced not just quick-fix.

    This is where IMters fail..

Maybe he completely misunderstood the meaning of web copy.

lol...that's a very funny statement on a not so funny matter!!

What does the original sell for? You'll have people flying over there to buy it if it's more than $27!

Actually the original book is just under $15 brand new. The guy is selling "his method" for more, and it's not even his.

There's no attribution or credit given at all to the original author. He just acts like it's his own.

            Just a suggestion.....

When selling ebooks it could be an idea to spin one or two of the pages. Have a software generated page mixing up the sentences which could provide thousands of versions of a page. If there was a way to automate this and keep a record of who got what page you would be able to know exactly who stole your text and if someone puts it on a file sharing site illegally you could trace them more easily.

Not possible with Maria's book - as I think she is still selling through most major book resellers, such as Amazon, not just a digital version

Sometimes they don't even bother to rewrite, just use a new name and graphics.

Just make sure the PLR rights to the book in question are not readily available.

They might have legal rights to them.

I highly doubt it. The book is not only sold on Amazon.com, but can be found in chain bookstores such as Borders and Barnes & Noble. I know cause I've seen it in person both in the U.S. and in Australia at different chains.

                      I agree..

A publisher probably owns the rights to that book. I highly doubt there are PLR to that book.

Have you contacted Maria Veloso? I would think her publisher would have a lawyer letter go out right away.

Its pretty pathetic to copy word for word.

As far as being similar and re-written, you'll find that alot. If people only knew you could get better information for free at the library and at the book store, a lot of these guys (scammers and un-original people) would be put out of business, lol...
