Aweber owners: Are you checking your lead counts are correct? I was shocked this morning...

I have noticed a significant difference between my tracking and the reports Aweber's system is displaying.

I am tracking my conversions (how many people sign up to my newsletter and are taken to the redirect Thank You page). Today I noticed a very large difference in the figures:

On Google conversion tracking (which has been verified to be installed correctly) I had 25 conversions, in other words 25 people subscribed and were taken to the Thank You page redirect.

Yet in my reports inside my Aweber account, it says only 4 people have entered their details.

This seems to be happening everyday and looks like I have potentially been spending £15-20 on Adwords only to have a screwed up system. Ouch.

Please could anyone offer any advice as to what the problem might be?

It may be that for whatever reason, there is some error with the data sent to aweber, which your website doesn't recognize.

For instance, say your website validates emails, through the following procedure : if the email string entered contains the '@' character, the email is deemed valid.

Now, if 25 people enter their email on your website, of which 4 are valid emails, and 21 are "example@example@example", your website will direct all 25 to the thank you page, but aweber would only count 4 subscriptions.

      Does that help ?
That's actually a very good point and didn't think about that. However, I've only seen the problem occur today in significant volume, so seems unlikely to be a flurry of people who enter an invalid email all in one morning.

I called Aweber and they can't find issues.

Here's a thought, which might be a possibility:

Aweber's stats are based on EST. Google's stats might be based in a different time zone, could be GMT, even if at google.com and not google.uk, which means:

When I am looking at 30 conversions (sign ups) in Google's conversion stats, they might be ahead of Aweber's stats due to the time zone difference?

I guess I will have to see how the figures finish at the close of play today to see if they match up...

      ...fingers crossed.

There could be a number of different reasons why that is occurring.

    * People entering bogus addresses that we discard. If you're offering bonuses or downloads that's very likely the case and very likely to generate a very high percentage of bad addresses.
    * Thank you page has a download or something on it that people are passing around and going to directly.
    * Thank you page is listed in google and your getting visitors to it directly.
