How To Establish Credibility Without Having A Picture Or Using Your Voice?

I have a client who is looking to create his first info product. However he is reluctant to use his picture or his voice anywhere in the salespage.

1. Can you recommend some strategies to establish credibility without having a picture or using your own voice or appearing in front of the camera?

2. He wants to do interviews with other experts in his field and because he has a speech impediment it is preventing him from doing interviews. Can you recommend some options?

    One possibility is to use a picture that's a drawing rather than a photo.

    Some EZA authors do this, for their various different pen-names, so that they won't be recognisable but do still have the "personal touch" of some sort of picture of themselves. It can be a charcoal drawing, a "cartoonised sketch" or various other things. It's a way of having "that personal touch" without losing your privacy.

    Like this person has done, though they can easily be much less "recognisable", and "sketchier", than that example.

    Thanks Alexa. I had the cartoonised sketch in mind but I never thought about doing an interview via an email.

    So would your suggestion be to compile a list of questions and send it to the experts? What's your take on hiring someone on Odesk or Guru.com to do the interview?

    Another question is if you hire someone- how would you start off the introduction to the audio for the customers?- do you state that this interviewer is not the merchant (and explain why the merchant is not interviewing) or is that not necessary?

      I don't see why not. (I've responded to "interview things" that way myself).

      I'd want to. I think you can do this with no downside at all, if you word it carefully. "Interviewed by Miss X-Y-Z, asking the questions of behalf of Mr A-B-C who has a severe throat problem this week" or something?

    I would say instead of branding himself with a photo
    brand him with a logo instead, you will have to make it
    completely origonal to avoid any confusion.

    Nice feedback on the Sketch! Funny how I have seen that so many times but never properly filed away the idea. Great concept if you need to have pen names. I am definitely going to get some mileage out of this today .

    the question covers a pretty wide scope.credibility can be found in many ways.
    Video testimonials of market leaders endorsing your product,pictures and videos of your product at work doing what it says.testimonials from people using your product and it working properly.ur article being featured in the news,bestselling book,etc,etc..
    also you can brand your business rather than urself,so you build credibility for the company and not yourself.

    its better long term for niches when you want to sell the business and move on,so it doesnt need your personal involvement to maintain credibility.

      Basically testimonials from people and experts. Thanks, but I think this would take time since the product is fairly but I certainly see the value of seeking testimonials prior to the launch.

    Easy, everyone is talking about photos as building credibility. There is nothing more credible than having OTHERS vouch and promote the author. Word of mouth marketing is extremely underrated.

      I meant using pictures or your voice more as a way of personally branding yourself (which my client does not wish to do). People like to buy from people they like and trust. Having a video of yourself explaining the product or your picture helps in this regard, though it is not a must.

      But I agree with your thoughts on using testimonials to good effect to enhance credibility.

        Just saw this as I was answering previous post.

        Once you have the voice over - the main thing that will get credibility is results - so show your results in the niche, or that your product works in the video.

        That makes no sense to me. Either you want to add your face for branding purposes or you don't. For your client to say "I want to brand myself personally but don't want to show who I am or sound like" goes against what he wants to do.

        Perhaps he can brand the business, find a spokesperson for the brand and go that route.

          Sorry for not being clear. My client does not wish to use his pic or do any videos. I was just talking to your point about pictures not needed to establish credibility and testimonials being more powerful.

    I may have missed the explanation, but why is he reluctant to be shown within a photograph? If this is too personal of a question, please do not answer. I know there are many reasons why people are reluctant and I do not want to cause offence to anyone.

    To me, getting others to offer their testimonials about this person would be much more effective. Being able to "validate" this person and his credentials is going to be quite beneficial.

      He works full time at a senior management position and he does not feel comfortable using his picture as he feels that may be problematic. I respect his feelings, so I didn't dig deeper.

    Yes, you can write a script and then head over to http://voice123.com/ and get a voiceover artist.

    Just ask them to send their interview questions over, get your client to answer them in writing and then shoot it over to the voice over artist and make your video.

    Easy...First your client can establish credibility in the sales letter by using facts and statistics. Using facts and statistics from other sources is a great way to establish proof and credibility.

    2. For the audio product, your client can find a voice over person to record the audio. Even using a friend or family member who doesn't have a speech problem might work out well.
