    1. Login to your WordPress. Select "Options" then "Permalinks." Select "Custom" and type this line in the box:

    /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

This is to match the post structure of your Blogger blog, to minimize the number of broken links and redirects.

    2. In WordPress, go to Manage (Tools in WP 2.7+) > Import. Select Blogger from the list and enter your login information. This should automatically transfer all your posts and comments.

    3. Login to FeedBurner, go into the feed and click on "Edit Feed Details." Change your Original Feed to http://YOURNEWURL.com/feed/ .

    4. Back in Blogger, select Settings for the blog you want to transfer. Select Publishing. Click the top link, "Custom domain." Type in your new domain, yourblog.com. Save. Now your links will transfer automatically to your own domain (though sometimes Blogger will show visitors a page to make sure they're not being taken to a different site accidentally).

    5. Still in Blogger, go to Layout>Edit HTML. Place the following code anywhere after <head>:
    <meta content='0; url=http://YOURNEWURL.com/' http-equiv='refresh'/>

After that just look over everything and tweak as needed. There's also some plugins that can help with blogger migration, just search for them in Wordpress dashboard. Try looking for "blogger permalinks" and there should be a few that come up worth installing.

Shouldn't be an issue nope. You're just directing your blospot.com blog to a new custom domain after all. The different domain shouldn't matter a lick. Remember though, it takes some time for the servers to point correctly. I think it's at most 48 hours.

    CLARITY on this.

The assumption is that you are moving to a SELF-HOSTED blog from wordpress.ORG which you are now hosting on your own site with your own domain.

If you are thinking of moving to wordpress.COM instead, you will be in violation of their "non-commercial only" policy and get all your blogs deleted.

Wordpress.com is not commercially viable, it's a free platform moderated by the folks that run wordpress.com. Meaning if you're selling stuff on your blogger blogs, move them to wordpress.com with all your "buy now" buttons, various ads and promotions intact, said wordpress.com sites will be deleted by the admins who moderate wordpress.com blogs, because they don't want anything being sold from their wordpress.com blogs.

Wordpress.org is where you can download and install the wordpress content management system to your own server, using your own domain name. So your blogger blog - once moved - becomes "yoursite.com", not "yoursite.wordpress.com". At which point you can run ads all day long and not be at the mercy of any moderation, save your own better judgment.

However, if you're schizophrenic, you're blog can still be deleted after moving to your own domain, but only by one of your extraneous personalities. :p

(Ignore that last paragraph, I'm tired and it's late where I'm at)

You mean multiple personality disorder, right?
(I know that the Greek word suggests a split mind/personality... because I am from the old school where Latin and Old Greek were mandatory... but the disorder is not what you implied. Plus, the shrink wife told me so!)

            LOL!

Actually I'm using the terminology the voices in my head keep screaming.

Doubtless she will also tell you, on request, that these days it's called "dissociative identity disorder".

Istvan and Peter have nailed it, but the more different explanations the better.

        Wordpress is a company.

They have a product, which is a blogging software you install on your own hosting.

That product can be downloaded from Wordpress.org if you don't already have it (cPanel installations come with something called Fantastico which usually allows you to install Wordpress at the push of a button).

Since it's your own hosting, you can host as many blogs as you want, but you will need to install the software and register domain names and setup databases and that sort of thing. HostGator or BlueHost are good places to get that, and NameCheap or GoDaddy are the two big places for domain names.

They also have a service, which is a free blog host a lot like Blogger.

This service is at Wordpress.com and is free. You can also have as many blogs as you want there.

But their service does not allow commercial use.

If you move a blog from Blogger.com to Wordpress.com, and you have ads on it, or affiliate links, or you're selling something, the good folks at Wordpress.com will delete it.

Because that is not allowed on Wordpress.com, and when you sign up it says that very clearly in the terms of service you have to promise them you read. Even though you didn't read them. Hardly anybody does.

So because you're talking about moving your IM blogs from Blogger to Wordpress, it has to be made clear: DO NOT take your blogs from Blogger.com to the free blog hosting service at Wordpress.com, because this is not allowed.

To move your blogs from Blogger to Wordpress, you will need to get your own hosting and your own domain name, then install Wordpress on that hosting for each blog you are moving.

WP.com is kind of like blogger in that it's free and anyone can put up a blog there. On the other hand you can host a blog that's running the wordpress system, but have it actually running on your own server, instead of theirs.

He meant do NOT think for a moment to set up a free blog on wordpress.COM!

You MUST have a domain+hosting > install WordPress on it (the free script from wordpress.ORG) > then begin to import your content from blogger as you were told above.

Yes you can via importing from wordpress or exporting from blogger. I have seen a couple of hosting services that offers support for migrating everything from one platform to another. One like wpwebhost, which is heavily advertised in facebook.
