1. Is it reliable for number of backlinks?
2. Why does it say I have "no pages"?
3. When I type in competitors sites, they have very few links, this can't be right???

Any advice on comparing links of your sit to top ranked competitors?

    None of the backlink reports are perfect, some sites just don't get indexed, your competitors at least are on the map.

    I was told thatsite explorer counts can vary day to day, depending on the data center you get. The future of site explorer appears to be limited, due to Bing takeover.

    To view the total number of useful backlinks:
    Click the links value
    Then select Except This Domain (To eliminate internal links)
    and Entire Site (To count links to inner pages)
    from the 2 options to the right.

    Yahoo Site Explorer is quite inaccurate when displaying the backlink count. It typically only shows you 5 to 20% of your actual backlink total.

    If you want a more accurate estimation, use Majestic SEO.
