Domain Trademark Concerns, how to solve it?

Hello guys,

I need your help.

I registered a domain containing a brand name, we can say it as "BRANDsales.com". Then later that company's attorney complained to Dreamhost that this domain is not authorized by them and will confuse their customers. So Dreamhost disabled the domain and suggest me to contact the complaining party directly with any concerns.

What shall I do to solve this issue?

Looking forward to your suggestions.

    Do what Dreamhost suggested: contact the complaining party. Unfortunately
    you'll likely be asked to give the domain to them, considering it contains their
    brand or trademark.

    Look up domains and trademarks to better understand how and why this sort
    of thing happens. Good luck.

      I'm surprised Dreamhost did this without your permission. If you need to get your site up and running I suggest you move to another host that wouldn't take down your site w/out a court order. They should be protecting their paying customers IMHO. I would think that this matter should be taken up with the owner of the domain and not the webhost. Good luck to you.

        Any reputable host would do the same thing. If they knowingly allow you to continue after being contacted, and it ends up in court, the host will be just as liable as you for the trademark infringement.

    Your best bet is to find another way to market products. You don't need the brand name in a domain name to succeed when promoting products. Maybe, you should create a broader domain name. If you are promoting iPhones, then you could create a domain like bestcellphonereviews.com and try to create different reviews about cell phones. Add reviews, and post affiliate links within the posts. Add an affiliate compensation disclosure. Drive traffic and then make money. Big companies don't like their brand in someone else's domain name. They don't want their company's brand getting hurt if a marketer does something shady.
