Article Submission - Blog or Article Directories or Both?

With the new Google algorithm changes, articles on article directories may not be as valuable as it was before. So I am thinking if should just load all my articles on my blog (with no backlinks and PR) or should I still continue to load my articles on article directories like ezine articles or articledashboard or both?

If it is both, which one should I load it first? To my blog or to article directories (considering I wanted it rank high on the search engine). Thanks!

Well... I'm not sure who started saying about Google algorithm changes will affect article directories ranking... actually there is no exact proof anywhere saying about this, all are just rumors some marketer start up...

Well, it's best you do not load all your blog content to article directories instead rewrite them so that Google knows you are producing unique content and not just copy and paste...

Actually, you doesn't have to worry about Google because as long as your content is powerful, traffic will still come your way...

There may not be any proof, but Google came out and said that what they considered content farms would be penalized. In addition to that, EZA founder Chris Knight had a fairly large post on the EZA blog indicating that their page views fell a very large amount the day of the update. That would probably constitute about all the proof you're ever going to get without having a friend on the algorithm team at Google.

In any event, many warriors have been using the "post on blog first, then submit to the directories" strategy for quite some time and have been very successful at it. The most well known proponent of that strategy is probably Alexa Smith. I don't use it myself, but will probably start doing it on a limited basis soon.

If you're using them for traffic, that would appear (so far) probably to be correct. (But that's a very bad use of article directories. You ought to want the traffic coming to your own site, not going to an article directory).

It's very difficult indeed to imagine circumstances where that could possibly be a valid or reasonable thing to do in the long run, for all the reasons explained in this thread.

You can't actually gain anything by submitting articles to a directory without first publishing them and having them indexed on your own site. Unless you don't have an "own site", I suppose. But if you do, it makes no sense at all, in the long run, not to do that first.

    Hey

    Do this:

    1. Publish your article on your blog and get it ranked in Google
    2. Submit the article to other directories

Now, when the articles are approved at directories, they might outrank the copy at your blog. But don't worry, that's just temporary.!

I think you've been given bad advice at some point.

Here's how I see your situation.

    Articles have 3 common uses:

    1 - Branding and establishing expertise/authority.

In this case it's more important where you put them as you can only increase brand awareness properly by getting your content in front of the proper target viewers. So whether you have it on your blog or on article directories may be irrelevant if it is best servinv your purpose by being posted as a guest contribution in someone else's ezine or blog.

I don't think it can hurt you to also have it archived on your own blog.

2 - For traffic generation purposes.

This may be where you want it on your blog to attract searchers and also on article directories to get syndication, traffic and links. Nothing wrong with having it on your blog here either - and I would put it on the blog first.

3 - Just for link juice in order to help search rankings of your main site.

In this case the more links you get - the better, but some links are more valuable than others so it still needs some focus and not just rely on easy directory links. Maybe not much reason to also put this on your own blog unless you feel it also serves as useful content and not just designed to click a signature link pointing to your site/blog.

If your main purpose is SEO then publish the article in your blog. Afterwards you can submit it to several article directories. But if you want instant traffic then post it to Ezine and once it is published you can submit the articles to other article directories with the same pen name. Even if Ezine is affected by the most recent Google changes, a lot of people use Ezine search engines to look for products and information. That is why it is still worth submtting some articles to this site.

Alexa Smith and others have shared tons of information regarding whether to place the article on own website or article directories first in an old thread.

Living up to your profile name I see.

As I've said before, in the never-ending cycle of redundancies, here we go again.

Yep, OP, don't syndicate your material to gain quality incoming links and traffic, instead rehash it a million times, rewrite it until only your pet gerbil can understand the original point of your work. Then throw said rewrites up on all the sites recently penalized for housing such dribble in mass quantities.

    /sarcasm.

OP, post to your site first, index it, then VERBATIM post it to directories for the purpose of syndication, exposure, and for other purposes I and many others are sick and tired of explaining. Rewrite an article if you wish, but note that doing so inherently diminishes the quality of the words as they existed within the original creative work, and as a result such efforts will end up being of negligent use to you and could actually cause a negative impact on your brand and authority.

Getting article directory links is of little use now, wow, major bombshell there! NOT. In truth article directory links were never that beneficial in the first place. Getting mass quantities of PR 0 article directory links was a way to game the system, using spinners and submitters, e.t.c... It's less and less effective now.

Quality work syndicated will always be of value, because quality site owners, social media and news outlets, e.t.c... will always link to quality writing in one way or another. That is one extremely important value of syndication, one that is impossible to regulate or discount by algorithmic changes made by any search engine. As it should be.

Rhetorical question: How many "quality" sites would willingly link to an article on it's 17th rewrite? POINT: At the most, any links you get from a piece of rewritten nonsense will come from sites you don't want linking to your work in the first place. It's that simple.

Write well and be rewarded. Go figure that this one rule is finally being thrust into the light of day. It's common bloody sense. This algo change is only beneficial to those who write well, and quite obviously that concept is something a great many folks around these parts can't seem to grasp.
