Site flipping. .com.biz.info.ca.uk.info who cares!

does it really matter?

I spent some serious time researching completed auctions today on flippa and it seems not.

Please let me know if I'm wrong but domain name is important but the dot (whatever) not so much. traffic good, income good, but not the end all be all to flipping quick templates. I am new to flipping and will not pretend to know all the details but it seems good copy and an attractive WP template are what's needed.

My brother, this topic is so controversial that you'll begin to see different people with different views here but the fact remains that any domain name will sell for a good price.
I'm a full time site flipper and sell .info domain names with good price tag. Upward of $500 to 1k.

So finally, I from experience think know that any domain will sell for a good price. It's all about marketing and value.

    Some potential buyers care.

That can reduce the size of the potential market and therefore the price achieved.

There's an urban myth that domain extensions affect SEO. (And some truth in the fact that country extensions can be relevant to ranking in those countries).

As between .com/.org/.net/.info/.biz etc., these have no relevance at all to SEO (many people still wrongly believe that they can do, in spite of Google's and Matt Cutts' constant and unambiguous statements that they don't), but the perception matters more than the reality. Overall, a .com domain may go for a higher price.

Personally, as long as a site makes some cash and prizes I could care less what the domain extension is. I'm sure there are those out there that would not touch a .info domain because they are perceived to be cheap, but I like cheap, so sign me up!

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

It is to me. I'm not paying for a .biz, .ca, .uk, .info.
.info is the only one of those that I would build a site on, but not buy it at an auction. It's not a matter of SEO for me ... it's domain value. I want a .com or a .net if I'm buying an established site for any amount of real money.

.ca sucks for outside Canada, very hard to rank outside Canada, a lot easier to rank in Canada.

I really think it depends on the type of business. Most people want a .com but when flipping sites, revenue and traffic and quality is all that really matters.
