Writing posts / articles for blogs

Hi

What do you all think is the minium word count for a post / article on your blog for the search engines to consider good ?

What would they make of a 100 word post ?

How many posts do you need ? ( ive seen some blogs being sold that only have 2 articles in them...is that workable ?)

Thanks,
W

Its depends. If its 100 words and its great content that people are going to enjoy to read then write a 100 word article. If its just garbage content and not useful and doing it to get more articles on your site, i recommend don't.

    Hope this helps...

As per my research, google likes to chew and swallow blogs that have articles of 300 to 500 words.
The script is ultra genius, it can analyze posts and pages for good content and/or garbage. Garbage contents are marked for human review (as I have worked inside axact.com a similar search engine running on the same script, located in Karachi Pakistan)

      So if you want organic traffic (free traffic from search engines for every keyword that you may have inserted in your posts/pages) all you need to do is;

Create 10 to 25 quality articles for your website.
Create 1 wordpress.com and 1 blogger.com free blogs and blabber about your site and articles at least once per week.
Do not link your blogs to each other. Put your website link(s) on both of your blogs.
Use social netwroks for backlinks, if using wordpress (self-hosted), I have some premium plugins which work automatically.
Use hub pages, squidoo, scalders, cobbler, snakebite your articles even.

Once your rank is good, flip the darn site for at least 300 dollars

      Rinse and repeat.

Also, if you created a diary / journal type of blog, with your opinions and feeling about your experiences is that considered good or garbage content ?

I like this answer. Google likes content that PEOPLE like. That is kind of their goal.

I tend to post between 500 and 750 words. As for number of posts, it depends what your goal is. If it is to rank for a single keyword, 2 or 3 posts might be enough. If it is to set up an authority site, you need lots of posts.

Don't try to write any particular number of words. If what you want to say takes 75 words or 2000 words, it doesn't matter. Just make the post useful and/or entertaining for your readers.

    Thanks Guys,

Yeah 100 word would be a quality post, just for good short stuff

But best to try posting articles more than 500 word

    Great insight Abcent

If your purpose is for selling the blogs, I have no idea since I've never tried selling blogs before.

But for how many words, 100 word post may be considered good depending on what it is about.

Sometimes I only post a picture and a few sentences to my blog, and people still like them. I also don't try to impress search engines, I try to give value to my readers.

An awesome blog, called "1000 Awesome Things" by Neil Pasricha sometimes only post one or two sentences. It's an award-winning blog.

If you want your blog to have agood reputation and get passed around outside of organic rankings, then write your post until you are finished with it.

If you have a lot to say about something then break up your post into a a few smaller posts. Put up some pictures or links to videos or embed the videos. But just do things like regular non-marketing folks would do them.

A bit her, some more over there. Skip 3 days in a row sometimes and write 3 posts a day sometimes. Even if you are looking for rankings and to see your blog, the people that come to your blog are the ones that are going to be buying stuff.

Make sure, that what you write works for them and don't worry so much about length of posts.
