Aweber closing IM accounts? Scare tactic?

Hi Folks

I received a somewhat disturbing (I thought) email from one of the "gurus" saying that Aweber is closing down IM accounts and that we should go to OptinMe. Is that true? I checked Aweber's website and there does not seem to be any news on this.

I quickly checked out Warrior forum and there does not seem to be any noise on this so is this guru trying some scare tactic? Anyone received this type of email?

The email was sent by a person that has a financial stake in that company. It was probably one of the most disgusting tactics I have seen in a while. I actually was paying this person monthly for the last year and a half. Not any more.

          This ^^.

Also, the email is kind of hilarious when you think about it.

Aweber is kicking out internet marketers? That makes no sense. Anyone who does any kind of email marketing, i.e. using Aweber, is an internet marketer--even someone who has a bakery with a 10 person mailing list--what he meant to say is Aweber is kicking out marketers in the internet marketing niche.

Sounds like someone is trying to get you to sign up through their affiliate link.

            If aweber did that:

            1) They'd go broke very quickly

            2) People would be screaming bloody murder on the warrior forum.

            This simply isn't happening.

            Regards

            -Simon

In that case probably the best course of action is for everyone who gets one to unsubscribe from his list. I have just done so.

Sounds Like BS to me... I would think they are benefiting from optinme.com which, as far as I know is fairly new. Maybe this guru owns a part of Optinme.com...

I don't see Aweber closing any accounts... except for the obvious reasons

    Just my 2 cents

Can you imagine how much money aweber would lose out on? That wouldn't be a very smart business decision at all! Sounds bogus to me.

Sounds a bit of a prank to me although not currently an Aweber user, however I want to change autoresponder accounts.

Any recommendations would be useful? Pricing not the most important but an issue and want to find a company that gives good delivery to email in boxes rather than ending up in spam folders. Can offer good friendly customer support?

      Any feedback would be useful.

I got the same email. I certainly wouldn't class that person as a "guru". A wannabe, maybe.

Aweber get about 60% of their market share from internet marketers, closing their accounts will be very detrimental to their profits. I don't see that happening in this lifetime

I don't think they're(Aweber shutting down) going to do that. The email might be a black propaganda from the competitor.

I too receive the alleged Aweber alarm. Checked my Aweber a/c; no problems there. Checked whois & sure enough there is a connection between the 'guru' & the Optinme suggested replacement. Acted accordingly.... your call friends

Also googled the issue. Here is an article with some xplanation of what som IM marketers may have experienced: Did Aweber Close Your Account? | For Internet Newbies

Any business that would use an autorespnder is essentially an Internet marketing business. Is Aweber shutting down the accounts of every one of their customers? I would think not.

I also received the same email.
My immediate reaction was to unsuscribe.

Not sure but think that an email such as that one
could in fact be grounds for unpleasant action
    against him from Aweber.

I sent it to Awebers support desk. I am wondering if Aweber would be able to take action against such claims?
