Monetizing Youtube video remixes

I'm a music producer that creates and remixes popular youtube videos and songs much like The Gregory Brothers, aka Autotune the news. I'm getting a good amount of views and music downloads from my videos. My top remixes have gotten around 40-60k views.

My question is how do I monetize this? I can't get a partnership right now so that's out of the question. I can't legally sell the mp3's so is there another way I can making money from this?

I have some potential advertisers that see the value in my product and want to put their website url in the video/remix and maybe have the viewers download the mp3 from their website. If the video goes viral it will mean big traffic for wherever I post the mp3 for free download. The problem is that it's not targeted traffic, it's just simply traffic. My next remix will be a Charlie Sheen remix song that I'll be posting the next week. WINNING!

Any ideas on how to monetize this as a business? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

If your videos are getting many views, maybe youtube (google) can let you show adsense ads. You could also try selling some DJ tools in your description, or forward visitors to a PPI software that downloads youtube movies.

      Man, what a great idea!

I've got an Adsense account, too.

I'll keep checking your YouTube channel. When you're finished putting together other folks' original work, I'll use your result to mix in with other videos.
Then I'll put my Adsense ads around the whole thing.
      Thanks for the idea!

    Google "music affiliate program."

    Here is one example:

    www.allmusicmethods.com
Online retailer of music instruction items including music books, sheet music, dvds, cds. Learn to play items for all instruments and levels.

The songs or videos that you are mixing are not yours correct? That means you should not be trying to make any money from these songs whatsoever. It doesn't matter whether you are trying to sell the songs or simply make money by advertising near the songs, either way it is illegal.

Giving the songs away for free changes nothing. This is still eating into the profits of the artists and will get you into trouble if/when you are found out.

I would quit while you are ahead.

      Sounds like a cool model.

Since the traffic is untargeted I would suggest maybe having an opt-in subscription where you provide the latest music download links or something otherwise of value.

Link to opt in form via link in description box. As its in a related are (music), you might get higher levels of optins.

The advantage of this method is that you consistently capture leads and keep them while you think of how to better monetize, by selling them their own remixing software or otherwise.
