Distributing Free e-Book This Way -> Will It Work?

Hi all,

I'm back with another question. I'm sorry I'm still new and at this stage all I can do is ask for advice. I hope one day I can give back to this forum.

OK, here's my situation.

I'm currently writing an e-book about a particular subject. I read a thread made by fellow warrior, SusanUSA. You can check out the thread here:

http://www.warriorforum.com/mind-war...revisited.html

Here's what I thought of doing. Contact about 50 blog and website owners in the same niche as mine that do not have an opt-in box. I'll ask them to give away my free e-book as a bonus to build their opt-in list. The only condition is they cannot change the links in the e-book.

OK, this is not earth-shattering. I'm sure some people have tried this method.

So my questions are:

1) Will this work? (I realize that my e-book has to be of great quality if I want people to click the links)

2) Do you see any shortcomings here?

My purpose here is to get readers to go to my site and/or click on the affiliate links in the book by making use of other credible and already-ranking sites to promote my e-book.

Any thoughts? Please comment. Thanks once again

Lydia

There's nothing wrong with the idea. The hard part will be getting them to do it, even if it is in their interest. Many site owners won't respond to any sort of request. (Try requesting link swaps.) If they don't have an opt-in form they may not understand the concept, so you'll have to educate them.

I think a quicker way would be to put the ebook in giveaways. That way you would be building your list and won't have to convince site owners to give away your ebook.

      my 0.02c.....

unfortunately, to partake in a giveaway, the OP has to have a list already.

what you can also do, is to create a download page, and offer it as a no-strings freebie to safelists.

      ok ok ok ......

the people using safelists are exactly the ones who will benefit from it, and the ones who have caught on, may actually use it.

      submit it to freebie sites

put it in your forum and email sig files

all in less time than it would take to get 50 people with no opt in, but with enough traffic to make it worth your while
