How to value a website

Hey guys,

How do you work out the cost of your website if you wanted to sell it?

Say it made a consistent daily average for around 8 months of $50 with traffic averaging around 600 visits a day and a list of 3000 emails (37% average response to emails) - what would it be worth if selling it?

Thanks!

I don't think so that it's the best way to estimate, I mean I don't trust any valuation tool. I prefer trust to human being. It depends on a lot of factors and I'm doubt that estimation tool can take all into consideration.
Anyway you should try to estimate it there, but I highly reccomend you to contact a specialist.

for any business a good rule of thumb (as a buyer of offline asset based businesses) is this:

you see Cashflow/yr (which is revenue minus expenses) and multiply by 3 to sell. When investors look for a good deal they are looking at less than cashflow x 2. Then its immediate sale.
However sometimes businesses cannot be evaluated simply upon financial. For example, stackoverflow or facebook (when it had no revenue) then its the potential of the business itself
that is the selling point. You can't value IP the same way as you would value say a bakery or mobile shop. The value is ethereal.

    regards
