Ezinearticles Word Count

Hello Warriors,

This morning I tried to submit an article to ezinearticles. When I hit the submit button, I got a message that basically said that I am in a
competitive niche and that my article has to be at least 600 words.
My articles are all 500 words

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had these articles written for me by someone on the WF and they
are very well written.

Do I now ask my writer to add 100 words to each article, or do I have to have the articles re-written?

Is it ok to submit to other article directories that don't have this
minimum word count or should I just wait and submit to ezinearticles
first?

Thanks

Mike

  • I read somewhere that since the last google algo change, ezine articles have changed a few things to tighten up the articles that are submitted. As you may know they took a major dive in the SERPs after this algo change, so I think they are trying to give Google better quality and I suppose they figure that weeding out the 250 word articles is a good way to do it.

      Hi TBInternetMarketing,

Yes, I know about the changes. The minimum word count has gone from 250 - 400. I just never heard about a minimum of 600 words before.

They say that because I am in a competitive niche, my articles have to be 600 words.

I could imagine what the word count would be in the internet marketing niche. 1200 words?

      • Oh ok, I assumed the change was up to 600 words. That is a little odd then. Not sure why they would specify 600 words for a certain niche. It must be something to do with quality? Perhaps the competitive niches are getting a lot of spammy articles.

    Mike,

You'll probably do much better with slightly longer articles anyway. I see that it must feel like an "imposition" at the moment, but it may well be worth doing, even just from your perspective, in its own right, anyway.

Kind of "a little bit of both", I think, but maybe nearer to "adding 100 words somewhere inside - not on the end". So, technically it's "re-writing" but it should be a relatively quick and easy job for a competent writer - it really should.

Yes, absolutely. Definitely. (As long as it's in the same name/pen-name under which you're going to re-submit to EZA, of course!).

It doesn't matter in how many other places it's been published in the same name - this has never played any role in EZA's acceptance criteria, and very recently they've clarified that it still doesn't.

There's absolutely no reason to wait.

Indeed. They are. They always were. EZA discovered - on analysis (better late than never!) - that the overall correlation between "length" and "quality" was a really marked one.

Usually they would only require at least 300 words for the body. But since the last time they got sandbox by Google, they made massive changes.
