Accepting credit cards directly without paypal - question

So I'm setting up a merchant account (as an alternative to paypal as a backup) and itcomes with a basic hosted payment page... what I'd like to get setup with is a shopping cart where I can customize the checkout & also potentially send out invoices.

I've looked into ultracart.com, looks great, but considering I only sell 1 or 2 products I'm not sure I want to spend $50\month....the one catch is that its required that my shopping cart have an SSL certificate.

what I need is somethng basic. A checkout I can customize & have it direct people to my own "completed" page. And the ability to send out invoices (which may be seperate from the shopping cart perhaps)

Anyone have any tips or insights they can share?

thanks fellow warriors,

I appreciate the reply but I'm not looking for a payment processor I have a merchant account coming so I can accept credit cards directly. Looking into shopping carts specifically.

also: Plimus pays net15 which in my opinion is garbage. Paypal is the best but I just don't want to rely solely on them to get paid.

Try the platform called opencart. There you have a lot of similar checkout gateways. I don't recommend 2checout because i have read in many places that you get a lot of chargebacks. Also i don't recommend neither paypal payments pro, for the same reason. But i have heard good things about money bookers. You can try them.
