Big bonus from gurus?

I notice that many Gurus are offering BIG bonus if we purchase
product using their affiliate link. I would think that the bonus
value is much higher than their commission. I still can not
rationalize this. Why would someone offer bonus that is more
expensive than the commission? What do they get in return?

They are sending the same product(s) to everyone. They don't lose anything by sending out those products.

They only gain lots of people looking at their offers for the bonuses.

Willie mentioned top affiliate prizes, which would more than cover the cost of several iPads.

Plus, I am guessing that the person promoting the bonus is still making more money on commissions than the cost of the iPad.

That post was submitted at nearly same time with Willie's post.

          Thanks. I understand, Mike

Some marketers are also willing to forgo most or all commission
in an effort to win prizes often offered to top affiliates.

Bragging rights mean something to some.

A bonus can be structured to build in backend profits
    for the marketer.

A digitally delivered bonus doesn't have to cost a lot for
    the provider.

Lots of other reasons, but for the affiliates, offering bonuses
definitely increase conversions, and since you can often get
the same product from numerous affiliates.... the bonuses is
what makes the product less of a "commodity."

It would seem to me that in a JV centered business model like IM it would be good for you to be seen near the top of as many contests as possible too. The more potential partners see your name near the top of contests the more likely you are to get the dates you want for your own offer, and to get the top partners involved in it.

It's about exposure because so much of your success is based upon who knows you etc. Even if you took a loss it would most likely be well worth it for you to place in the top five in two or three big launches, simply because that person will most likely hit their own list back for you, and so will many of the people who JV'd with them. So, even if you took a loss in the short term, in the long term you'd set yourself up.

There is a story that I don't know if it's true or not, but when Eben Pagan decided he wanted to get into the IM business he offered a Ferrari and a Benz as his prize to his top affiliates..and I'm not talking about renting one for you for a few days, I'm talking about giving you the the title, you own it , it's yours.

I'd imagine that simply due to the cost of the prizes it's very possible he lost money on that launch, but it hardly matters because prior to that people in the market had no clue as to who he was, but that established him as a player.

At my review site I'm giving away an ipad 2 as a bonus on a launch coming soon because the commission is a lot more than what the ipad 2 is worth, also it increases conversions massively especially if you can offer something that people want... e.g an ipad instead of some crappy plr lol

I hope you don't fall for what THEY say it's worth.

Because everyone can say... Oh you get this and this and this e-book and video course and it's worth $ 2997 alone!

And don't forget, all they pay for is maybe some web traffic, if they already have the rights to sell those products.

However, as has already been mentioned in this thread, some commissions are so high that they can even afford to buy you an IPad.
