Why doing everything fast is so important

Hey warrios,

Have you ever noticed that every successful person does everything really fast? I think it is the key to success. Here is why:

You will get MORE done FASTER
Does it reduces the quality of your work?
Actually, yes and no. The question is, would you like to write 1 awesome article, 1 great, and one good/average, instead of writing 1 awesome article?

You will fail faster
I don’t know worse feeling than spending 1 month creating a product only to find out that people don’t want that! It is a terrible feeling…

You will succeed faster
If you fail faster, you will naturally succeed faster!
This happens simply, because you learn from your mistakes.

Also, if you write 9 articles per day, instead of writing just 3 articles per day you will get much more traffic, right?

This is the most common mistake that a beginner internet marketer makes
I did this mistake as well. Many times. It took me about 3 weeks to create my first ever information product!

The key is to use 80/20 rule, but nobody uses it…
Almost everyone knows the 80/20 rule. 20% of your efforts produce 80% of the result and vice versa. 80% of your efforts produce 20% of the result.
However, almost nobody uses this rule. Why? Because it is hard! You have to feel uncomfortable. But, if you want to become truly successful, you have to put yourself out of the comfort zone. This is essential.

Simple trick how to make yourself using 80/20 rule
Just put a deadline on everything you do. If you need to write an article in 20 minutes, then stop writing it after 20 minutes. No matter what the quality of the article is. If you’ve written a poor quality article, you will automatically try to write a better article next time, because you don’t want to be well known for writing poor quality articles!

So, if I create a product, I will outsource someone else to upload files to the server, to create affiliate tools page, to order graphics and so on. So you get the idea:

Do what ONLY YOU CAN do and do that FAST!

Please share tips about this topic, if you know other tips how to make yourself doing everything fast and tell about your success!

Or it could be that this rush to get a product or concept to the market so FAST is the reason we have so much fluff, poor content, re-hashed products, and stolen ideas floating around on a daily basis.

outsource, outsource, hurry, hurry, outsource, hurry.

Isnt that the reason why we have so many product owners that are so disconnected from their actual products, email lists, and customer base?

I don't think so. I know several very successful marketers who pump really great products in just 24 hours and sell that for $97 (and people love these products...)

For example, one of these marketers is Lee McIntyre. Amazing guy. He pumps out super products in just 24 hours (including sales video!). If you don't believe me - check out his product "Lazy Way To List Building"

Jason Fladlien creates a his products whilst presenting a live webinar.

He creates high quality content in the webinar and sells it for 17 - 37 bucks to his freebee list

And for every ONE of those products that was rushed and that you love.........how many are out there that are just copied, stolen, illegible, empty, pathetic, rushed.....and downright useless?

take action, take action, take action, take action, take action....that seems to be all anyone talks about or preaches these days. I personally dont see what was wrong with devising a plan, coming up with a unique idea, testing the market, improving the product, using customer feedback.

        But maybe Im old-fashioned.......

But it is actually all about taking action... Don't you agree? So many people just learn and learn, buy a product after product and don't take action...

          Don't you think so?

Well, yeah, some products are copied, but Terry Dean said that he never had 100% original idea.

No, I don't think so. It's not all about taking action. It's about
taking the correct action. If you're in New York city you can get
to Los Angeles by going East but it will take a very long time.
Had you taken a moment to learn the correct action you'd have
gone West and shaved a ton of time off the finished product.

You'll have to travel East pretty damn fast to get there before
I do by traveling West... even though you might have left days
sooner. Faster is not always the answer.

So TRUE! Many guys are hiding in their houses, behind their computers, scared to take ACTION. They let perfectionism get in their way and as they begin trying to be perfect, they end up being diverted to do other things.

Take Action. Take correct Action Fast. I mean Fast! learn so fast, fail fast, Adjust fast and when the opportunities arises, move fast like a tsunami!

There are some other ventures that requires one to move at steady speed, but when the opportunities arises, attack fast like a crocodile, hiding under the water for hours only to attack at lightining speed!

Nothing is really new under the face of the earth!

You can't stop yourself writing about self esteem because there are gurus out there who have exhausted the Topic!

Get ideas from their products and create your own product too.

These gurus will not respect you or give you their "easy-made-money" coz you considered them.

Consider musicians, they don't have anything really new. They sing the same heart broken, Loving songs, lovers, secret lovers song, etc They just present the products differently. Nothing new here guys. Just the way they present the songs and the beats.

Get yourself organized. Choose whatever you want to do and go for it. Ignore other tempting gazillion methodologies. Choose one thing and go for the kill.

Lions are successful and called King of the Jungle because they know how to outsource, find team members to work with and zero focus on one animal at a TIME! Guess what, even though they are not the fastest cats in the Jungle, they are more successful than their rivals.

I think you're missing something very important with the 80/20 rule. Maybe 80% is a good score at school but if you fail to deliver 1 time out of 5, you will lose all your clients. You customers deserve 99% at least!

The real question is how can you optimize it?

If the article after 20 minutes is poor quality, don't publish it, DELETE IT because it wouldn't be a great article after 1 hour anyway. I know it sucks, but it was worth a test.

That's the mindset I encourage you to have

An other mindset I've heard from a friend of mine to be more effective: plan how much time you need to do a task and give yourself only half the time.

Very hard to do but you will improve that way.

No articles are not actually low quality, I just write an article of 300 words instead of 600.

Of course, if I write a poor quality article I delete that, or rewrite next day.

I don't know about you guys, but this information is valuable! I find - as a newbie - that it can be easy to try and perfect things.

Really, trying to release a perfect product (or perfect article, perfect email series, whatever you want to apply it to) is a waste of time. Isn't it far more beneficial to GET IT OUT THERE and improve on it, test it, optimize it etc?

I don't care if my first autoresponder has a horrible open rate, at least it's out there and I know what I have to improve on.

I dont know about strategies as such. If you follow a system like I do, the process takes time. Time takes time, theres no shortcuts. However, there is definite truth in the fact that it can be a fantastic waste of time spending 3 months and thousands of dollars on a product that flops. Ive experienced this myself, numerous times, whilst Ive had others that Ive put together in a few days, for a couple of bucks, and they've flown.

I think that this is one of those generalities that doesn't necessarily follow. The principle of working fast and not seeking perfection is sound but some people might take this as an invitation not to bother too much about the quality of what they produce.

The example of writing an article in 20 minutes and stopping is a case in point. if the article is for yourself or your own website then that's fine - it's up to you whether or not you publish a sub-standard article.

If someone's paying you for it then that's a different matter. You want to speed up the writing but not at the expense of giving your client something which is not your best.

      Very true.

You can have all the advice in the world, all the best plans, all the best intentions.

But until you put them into action you won't actually learn a single thing, you'll just accumulate a lot of useless knowledge.

It's inevitable that things you try won't work at all or won't work as expected but every one of these attempts has valuable lessons that you won't pick up anywhere else.

Fast doesnt mean garbage. Fast means having a set process, knowing exactly what you are doing, and leveraging via outsourcing.

I bet an experienced chef can whip up an extensive 3 course meal in the time that it takes most of us to cook 2 minute noodles. Doesnt mean its going to taste like arse.

Exactly, some of my highest earning sites are the ones I created in hardly anytime at all. They bank because I know what works from my past failures, which speaks to your point about failing fast too. I wish my failures hadn't taken so much time, so that I could've gotten to making big money quicker, but it's all part of the process.

  • .... Working faster without regards to what comes out is destructive and a p*ss take towards your customers. I say work as fast as you can without sacrificing your best work. Once you reach your limit, don't go beyond that knowing your work will start to suffer.

If you feel you aren't fast enough, increase your hours, have others help you and so forth... Point is to take action and get stuff out there, but with your best efforts put forth.

I don't mean to extend a product release for extreme tweaking searching for that elusive perfect product, but at the very least have the decency of releasing work you put your best efforts towards.

Less is sometimes more, ultimately aim for quality, eventually your efforts will multiply.

    Hi Matt,
Actually the fastness comes with practise. As you achieve more and more success and your confidence level increases, your efficiency level increases manifold.

While creating my first product,it took me about 3 weeks to write a 25 page something report but now I can churn out 60-70 page high quality report within 24 hrs.So this all has a lot to do with your self-confidence.

As a rule, your self confidence increases with your level of success and that is why we see successful people doing everything fast(and no wonder they do these things efficiently too).

In my opinion, the focus should be on effectiveness rather than on speed.

You can work really fast, moving in light speed, reading, writing, creating,
editing like crazy but the important thing is how much output you actually
have generated. I do agree that being fast is very important but if you
are not effective than it will not help at all.

Most of the times, when I do things fast, they are followed by mistakes.

The answer is simple if you apply the Golden Rule.

What do you want to deliver? Do you want to help others and create a mutually rewarding experience for you and your clients? If not, then why no commit oneself to a life of crime and make money the easy way.

Anything less than one's best should be squashed! Anything that the market determines is invaluable will not find wings. But with great copy you can sell sin to Satan!

This is a very interesting topic.

When you do everything fast you don’t pay attention to many details. If you work in a hurry your work won’t be perfect.

Your work must be perfect; otherwise it won’t beat the competition and have an online presence with Time. Only what is really good never dies. No matter how many competitors you may have, if what you sell is really good it is going to survive with time. Time is very important. You must be patient, and you must be very well prepared for a long battle online. Nobody will let you triumph just like that… you have many enemies online. Thus, be very careful and learn internet marketing very well.

You cannot learn fast, and in the beginning you cannot work fast, otherwise your work won’t be perfect. Your products must be perfect; everything you do online must be perfect. Otherwise, you won’t surpass your very strong competitors.

When you’ll learn everything very well, you’ll become an expert, and work always faster and faster, while doing a Perfect job.

This is the best solution for you.

Time limits and deadlines are a good way to learn to speed up. People who are new to a process need much more time. They should never feel compelled to put an article out on the net or sell it if the article just doesn't make the grade.

Only your best work should represent you. As you learn to speed up the process, the gap between what is your best work now and when you were learning won't be as large.

Baby steps guys. Take action. Why worry your book is not going to be the best seller on Amazon if you don't even try. Even if it doesn't become a best seller, congrats to you for publishing a book.

Stop worrying and talking yourself out of TAKING ACTION.

So what, many people have written about the subject. Be part of many people who have written about it. Don't worry about complainers who say your information is reharshed and whatever.......

Is there anything new under the face of the sun?

Please, take action. Outsource, do something. You will succeed. YES do it fast!!

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I must take exception to the perfectionist stance that you seem to be espousing. I've lost track of how many clients and warriors I've encountered over the years who have used this line of thinking as an "excuse" not to do anything at all. It's an easy (and unwarranted) escape route to take for those who are feeling uncomfortable and unsure about their IM stuff.

It's far better to take imperfect action and then sort things out along the way - IM is like learning to ride a bicycle, it's virtually impossible to get things right the first time around when trying to perform/execute either activity!

Soemeone said - it is better to do SOMETHING, than not to do anything at all...

However, there are some days when everything is horrible... Then, sometimes it is better to do nothing. That especcially apply to stocks, Forex, not so much to internet marketing (if you don't use paid traffic generation strategies)

Yeah, creating products using webinars is a really great idea.

Some other ideas how to create products fast:

    1. Interview other people
    2. Create audio product
    3. Create video product
    4. Outsource
    5. If you decide to write an ebook - do NOT WRITE it - use a voice recognition software

Like in so many other areas, the key is balance. Sure, you don;t want to spend so long trying to achieve perfection that you never release, post, or distribute anything. You also don't want to do everything so fast that you add to the endless crapola we're bombarded with every day.

Take action, and drive not for perfection, but simply to over deliver on your customer's expectations. If you can do that fast, you're in the perfect place. Now, get to work!

successful people tend to not waste time on unproductive nonsense.
They get right to the point which cuts time off their overall schedule.
It only seems like they do it fast when really they are simply more

Rushing through life simply for the sake of doing things faster
is a silly notion. Doing things faster does not guarantee a faster
learning curve, more traffic or increased productivity.

Here's a thought... instead of running around like a chicken with its
head cut off trying to gain some imaginary advantage from being fast
try making an actual plan. Cut the fat, nonsense and non-productive
stuff out of the plan then get to work. Be done when you're done.

I read advice from a very rich guy where he said "be impatient". Meaning keep things moving toward your goal. Going fast in and of itself is silly I agree. Most of the unsalable crap out there was likely done fast.

You are right. It's better to do things fast. I did things slowly when i first started my site realizing what I was doing was a complete waste of time . Good points.

Doing things fast is important because you get to put your ideas and information into action instantly. In his Altitude marketing course, Eben Pagan notes that most successful entrepreneurs share an ability to rapidly execute, to take an idea from inspiration to implementation very quickly. This can be thought of as 'speed of implementation'.

The other reason why it's important is that you really only learn when you do it, so doing things fast helps you retain what you've just read more effectively - so as soon as you learn something new, immediately implement!

Yep good points in the above, but everyone is different, some like to take a more measured approach and some like to go right after it. Experience is the best teacher, once you have something that works you can duplicate it. Just be sure to plan all work and stick to the plan and keep evaluating

I go fast with a lot of stuff, but when I create a product I like to take my time and improve it several times before it's released.

Even the ones I finish writing in 1 sitting, I edit and rewrite at least 2 times.

For an article or blog post...pff. Half the time I just "edit" as I go and get it done so I can move on.

Time (speed) is a very important concept, maybe the most important concept of all, as time is really all life is about.

From a business point of view, time is perishable, just like an apple. If buy an apple to resell, and the apple rots, you will never get your money back. If you don't get anything done today, you'll never get today back.

Like the great basketball coach John Wooden used to say, "Be quick but don't hurry".

There is no virtue in doing things fast. Most fast work is sloppy work--it's true in all other areas of life, and it's true in IM too.

Working fast is just the other extreme of being a procrastinator, and there's no virtue in that either.

Plan your work and think about your work as you do it. When it's done, take time to evaluate it. Change what needs to be changed. Speed for speed's sake is futile.

Yeah, having a plan always helps to get more done faster. Someone said that 7 minutes spent on planning a day, will save at least 1 hour. And it is true. I plan my every single day and it really helps me to sava lots of hours in my day and to get more done faster as well.

Beautiful formula, you know honestly b4 I had kids I could stay up all night and work on my websites. But being a single mom, now I know what my parents meant about you loose some freedom. Today with a toddler and a baby, I can write 8 articles sometimes 13.

I told myself the only way I will get a better life is if I make it happen. I was going to outsource the work, but wow, I can not really afford it not to mention some of the people can not keep up with 8 articles a day, only speaking from my experience with hiring someone. It's like they say if you want it done right, do it yourself.

Everyone has good points. It's about finding a balance in your work that works for you, and it's somewhat different for everyone.

I think it's more about working efficiently than working physically faster.

Most people just need to be more honest with themselves and ask: how many hours in a day am I actually doing productive work instead of time wasting activities?

Personally I stand by the notion that doing something everyday towards your goal is 100x better than doing a whole heap one month and then nothing the next 2 months.

As long as you're doing something everyday, you'll eventually reach your goal.

Most of the gurus who are fast at execution are probably workaholics who need to feel better about themselves by earning more and more money. (Not everyone has that goal in mind).

      I agree 100% with you!

It is very important to do SOMETHING every single day. What you do every day makes you special!

Also, I have found myself sometimes being very productive and then I just can't get done anything at all... Does this happens only to me?

I've found that usually I get lazy on Friday and Tuesday is one of the most productive days in the week.

For some reason many are equating being fast with being sloppy and putting out inadequate work.

      This is not the case.

Speed is valuable. That's not to say you put out shoddy work but drive out inefficiencies in order to minimize your time to market.

The thing is you won't know where those inefficiencies are located until you go through the process a number of times and even then you might not get it exactly right.

And don't think this is something specific to this industry. It's everywhere. How many perfect cars have rolled off assembly lines? How long would it take a car manufacturer to research and develop the "perfect" car (If they even could)?

How about software or hardware. Do you know of any perfect pieces? Yet they're on the market.

The key is to make it good enough realizing you'll improve it over time by incorporating lessons learned from your experience and customer feedback.
