Banner ads, how to create them

INTERNET MARKETING

I'm seeing a lot more people using banner ads lately. Maybe because I'm starting to do affiliate marketing using them.

My question is, how does one create a banner ad? I would like to create a nice banner ad for the side widget of my site for a personal product, but my efforts to find out how to create it hasn't been going so good, so I thought I'd ask the warriors.

Any direction on doing this would be great. Thanks!

I use Gimp. It is a really great software to create graphics and banners as well. It takes a little bit of time to learn, but after that - it is game over!

You may also use adobe photoshop or outsource this task if you're already making money

  You can watch tutorials on youtube or get a product teaching photoshop.
  
  If that doesn't help you, you can always hire someone to do one or two for you.

I would suggest to outsource that to odesk. You can get quality things done at reasonable rate. An the output is many many times worth the money you spend.

  Agreed, outsourcing is a good solution.
  You might find nice deals on Fiverr.com

It is just a jpeg and you link it in whatever program you use to make websites. If Wordpress, then place it in a widget and put a link on it.

I made this banner in Windows Paint Untitled Document

An if you click on it, you will be taken to the page to which it is linked.

I use Banner Maker Pro. It is really the easiest to work with and I tried all of them. It isn't free but well worth the investment. They do have a trial version to try it out yourself
