Have I Been Targeted?

Today, I got two emails from people I don't know.

One is for a JV for my crysis2review website that has been hovering between 2 & 3 spot on page 1 of Google for weeks (the new video game is to be released today).

This guy wants to know if I would like to put his affiliate link for his Crysis 2 PC Digital download.

I'm not sure if this would be a good move or not? I would earn a commission for each sale.

My gut feeling is that it can't hurt.
Just curious what you would do?

Email #2: I have no idea where he got my email address from (email pasted below)

Hello Joanne,

I think I may have an idea on how we can work together. I want to add more value to your company, and clients, by providing my service. And you will get paid for it too. No risk to you!

My name is Benjamin. I'm a marketing strategist, and I help different
businesses increase profits by using custom marketing strategies.

I can give you electronic gift certificates to give to your clients. It
could be use as a bonus when they do business with you. You can't go wrong with this. Literally, it requires no work on your part, and you will get $400 for each person that becomes my client. You can easily make an extra $4000 by sending me 10 clients a month.

I'm contacting 5 other copywriters today with the same offer, so please
let me know if you want to be part of this today. You can test me out for
30 days to see if we are a good fit.

Let's carve out sometime out to talk- I know you are busy, and I'm busy
too, but I can make it worth your while.

He didn't indicate his website but he did give a reply email address which gave me the website. I checked it out but it doesn't really give me enough info to make an informed decision.
My gut feeling is to ignore this one but only because I have no proof that he is legit.
Would you ignore this one or pursue it?

    Hi Joanne,

For the first email, I would check out his product if it is listed on any major affiliate networks. If it is, I would check if it has a good track record, such as high sales figures, high gravity, etc.

If not, it would be a better idea for you to put an affiliate link to a product that YOU KNOW would convert and convert well.

    As for Email #1

My gut reaction to it was: DELETE and RUN

    Thats just me.

    Cheers!

    JoAnne,

For the first product I would do my research and check out how many complaints they have had. Also, if this person truly wants to do a JV, they will send you a complimentary copy for your review.

Second email. Sounds very suspicious. It also sounds like MLM...No way....

    Good Luck..

Do you have a whois guard on your website registration? He could have just looked your website url up and found your contact info. If that is the case, I wouldn't be worried.
