Email your free report, or link to online location?

I was just wondering what you prefer to do as far as the delivery of your lead magnet goes for your lists...

I am using double optin, and am wondering if I should email them the report in the second email, or have the second email send them to a link on my site where the report is.

If I email it to them, I have two different times that I can display a thank/confirm page to them. Which would be better to display an affiliate offer?

    Do this:

    1. No double opt-ins.
    2. When they opt-in, take them to a page with a video where you thank them for taking the time to opt-in to your list and let them know that you are committed to helping them in whatever the "niche" is.
    3. On the same page, tell them to check their email with the report and also tell them to take a look at the "special link" link in the email. (which is the affiliate offer you're trying to promote)

Now, keep in mind... If I were you, I'd refrain from trying to "promote" something as soon as they opt in. Don't make them have to grab their credit cards as soon as they opt-in to your list. Take it slow.

You could also try a freebie CPA offer. That way they don't have to pay. But you still get paid

Most wannabe internet marketers don't know what they're doing.... and believe me there are plenty out there. So, be different and get noticed!

    Just my 2 cents.

    Cheers!

I prefer to send people to a web-page to get their
report rather than including it in the e-mail itself.

    Why?

Because using attachments can increase the chances
that your e-mail gets filtered into the junk folder.

Also, many people these days use mobile phones to
access their e-mail and won't appreciate the time
taken to receive an e-mail with attachments over
    200kB.

So, send them a simple link in a basic e-mail and
then they can go to your website to download the
    report when they want to.

That said, only a split-test will reveal what process
brings the best conversions for you and your affiliate
    offer.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

I also link to a web page for the same reasons that Shaun listed above. Then you can also include a special offer on the report download URL if you wanted to as well.

Webpage packed with another opt-in, ensures high filtering.
