I've been hearing a bit about social bookmarking groups - ie: You pay a monthly fee, or purchase "credits" and submit your URL's to be bookmarked by other members.

I'm curious if anyone has experience with these types of services? Do they work? I've seen this handled in many different ways, and I'm quite intrigued.

You must use Onlywire, SocialBot or Social marker they are cool tools.

I have had huge success with social marker.com and it's free. You might want to check it out.

I restrict my bookmarking activities to my second tier pages, I don't want my main sites getting slapped!

I didnt know that there was a service that asked people to pay for a social bookmarking campaign!
On the contrary, I would do it myself so that people would recognize me as well.
Also, I dont know how far you can trust these people. For all you know, they may be "gaming" the system and you are the sad target for them....
I hope that this gives insight to you regarding your decision to use them...

I've tried social bookmarking before but wasn't successful at it. It seemed like a whole lot of tedious work for very little results.

        Hello there,

THanks for all the replies. I think I may have explained myself poorly. I'm not asking about bookmarking and how to automate it. Rather, I am asking about the Bookmarking groups that have hundreds of members, who each will bookmark your links.

The theory is that bookmarks are more valuable, and carry more weight when you have others bookmarking your links instead of just you bookmarking your own. So if I bought 50 credits, I could have 50 members bookmark a particular URL to make it more popular, and theoretically keep it higher up on the bookmark sites to increase chances others will ssee it and follow suit.

These are the services I am inquiring about. Anyone have experience with these? Good? Bad? Ugly? Is there a downside, or potential repurcussions with the SE's?
