question about wordpress posts/pages

I'm getting to know Wordpress a bit and am wondering whether I should I create static "posts" or static "pages" for my product reviews website?

Any advice please? Thanks in advance

  • I like to use static pages for things like the about us page. For the reviews themselves I prefer posts.

WordPress can do almost anything these days but historically pages or static and blog posts or for the dynamic or updated part of the site.

For a review site I believe it is just a matter of personal preference.

Better create posts, since pages are not pinged...

Also use a ping optimizer for seo...

I would use pages for the main pages of your blog that will not change and the rest put it as a post.
A page will not have a date stamp. A post will show when it was created, posted.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your replies - I shall be adding products of course, but maybe not posting "updates" as such (in the manner of a blog per se), so to take advantage of pinging facilities - re the post from schwarzes - posts may be the way to go. I have a product-review template from another member that allows me to delete the date of posts and similar such info that otherwise clutters up the post space.
