How to Track Vendor Sales on Clickbank

As a Clickbank affiliate, you can append the tid variable to your affiliate link to identify the sources of your sales. But as a vendor, Clickbank doesn't offer any such tracking option! Prehistoric alright.

I've contacted clickbank support and they tell me you can only use the vtid variable on a payment link and this doesn't show on the order form.

How do/can you identify the source of your sales as a vendor on Clickbank?

Why not just become your own affiliate and use an affiliate TID, if the lack of one is a problem to you?

I think you could also copy your products so that you have different product IDs such as:

    1.xxxx.pay.clickbank
2.xxxx.pay.clickbank (not sure at the moment what the pay url says exactly, but you get the idea)

Wouldn't that work for what you're asking?

Alexa, your idea is probably the best solution. One problem though is it may override an existing affiliate cookie and "steal" their commissions.

Do the big Clickbank vendors even track where their own sales come from?

I don't claim to speak for Alexa but I don't think she was talking about anything shady at all. But, if you are promoting your own product through article marketing or what have you, it would be easy to track where sales were coming from by sending that traffic through a hoplink for a separate clickbank account. Yes, your affiliates would be competing against you, the vendor, but you would be acting like any other affiliate. Everything would be external to the actual clean sales page. Get my drift?
