Questions on Article Marketing

Hi,

I have some questions about article marketing.

First, when you publish your articles, do you publish the same article to multiple sites, or is it required (or a good practice) to make only one submission of the copy?

Besides Ezine Articles, what are the other good article sites you post your work to (and why - is it their good pagerank or something else)?

How do you choose the backlink anchor keywords (your own major target keywords, or rather the words connected to the particular article)?

Do you write under your own name or have you chosen a pseudonym?

I hope the questions don't sound too silly, I beg your pardon if they do :-)

I publish on my site, get it indexed, then to ezine. When it's approved on ezine, I post to goarticles and articlebase. Sometimes I'll make a squidoo lense or hubpage out of it.

    Hope that helps.

Besides posting on my own website, and then EZA (rarely any other directories), I will send copies out to up to approx 23,000 syndicated ezines, high authority websites and blogs, and some offline outlets.

Is it better to just focus on the main sites like ezine articles and company ?

Does submitting to numerous directories have an negative consequences, on just positive ?

      Thanks.
So, Ezine doesn't mind if the article is already indexed, as I understand. This is somewhat strange, as it is duplicate content that Google in general doesn't like at all. Maybe the big article sites are an exception?

I don't know what you mean by "main sites". My websites are in dozens of extremely highly competitive niches, so my articles are submitted to what I consider to be "authority" outets in those niches.

It is really not much more effort to submit articles to one or two major article directories and then also to thousands of other highly targeted syndicated publishers such as ezines, websites, and blogs. In addition, my articles are published offline in newspapers, trade journals, magazines, etc.

These outlets contribute to nearly all of my traffic and sales, whereas the article directories such as EZA are nearly traffic irrelevant except to serve as additional syndication sources.

I post to about 3 or 4 article submission and ezine sites as well as post it to my blog.

I write them under my name.

People do it different I am sure but that seems to work the best for me.

If you have a blog and post it to your blog, setup ping.fm to connect with your social media and broadcast it that way also.

If you want more reach for your articles, you may publish them in many places
where other people will see it.

If your goal is to get each submission ranked on search engines, then you'll
have to make each version significantly unique, thanks to the 'duplicate
content filter' which aims to ensure no more than 1 copy of content is
listed on the SERPs (search engine results pages)

Besides Ezine Articles, what are the other good article sites you post your work to (and why - is it their good pagerank or something else)?
I submit to GoArticles, ArticlesBase, Idea Marketers and sometimes Buzzle.

Why? Because it gives me exposure to a new/different audience who visits
      and prefers those directories.

How do you choose the backlink anchor keywords (your own major target keywords, or rather the words connected to the particular article)?
When I'm writing for SEO purposes (which is not always), I will pick one
anchor to be the site/page primary keyword, and the second to be either
a URL to the homepage or one of the secondary keywords or one of the other
high value keywords of the site.

Do you write under your own name or have you chosen a pseudonym?
      Both

Depends upon your purpose for writing articles. In general, the more the
merrier - but there are exceptions to this rule.

And blasting content out willy-nilly may be less effective than doing it
the right way - which will be based upon your goals for article marketing,
and need some studying and testing on the actual process you plan to follow
      for your purposes.

Does submitting to numerous directories have an negative consequences, on just positive ?
Negative only if you're expecting each of those directory posts to give you
a back-link - that won't happen because Google (and other engines) have a
'duplicate content filter' which filters out essentially similar pages from
showing up in their SERP results. There isn't any penalty levied on similar
articles being submitted to multiple directories, as long as the purpose is
to reach fresh audiences with your content.

      That's the positive, btw

      Hope this helps

The more eyeballs you can put on your articles, the more potential you have for those articles to influence people to take the actions you want them to take.

I would say, you don't have to make duplicate copies of the same article on 100's of article directories as its not a good practice for you to rank high in search engines

besides EZA, you can publish your articles at sites like articlebase etc...

Most of the people use pseudonym as an author name but,
if you like you can use your real name as i think it hardly makes any difference

Yes you can publish you article on more than one sites.
We generally publish article on High PR article sites as it increases backlinks.
We keep backlink anchor keyword using keyword research analysis.

    Hi sunray,

First, when you publish your articles, do you publish the same article to multiple sites, or is it required (or a good practice) to make only one submission of the copy?

In the wake of Google's PANDA / FARMER update, I would be extremely careful. I would conduct article spinning to a few sites only.

Besides Ezine Articles, what are the other good article sites you post your work to (and why - is it their good pagerank or something else)?

ArticleBase is a good one with quick approval time and good traffic.

How do you choose the backlink anchor keywords (your own major target keywords, or rather the words connected to the particular article)?

Its your choice. If its related to article subject then the link would be relevant and good. Or else you can even target your main ones.

Do you write under your own name or have you chosen a pseudonym?

Not under my real name at all (if I'm working for others).

    Hi,

You can publish your same article to multiple article directories however with the new algo shifts Google made recently I dont think this is a good idea ór as powerful as it was

Ezine is THE article directory however they are currently going though some changes and kinda toughening up on their approval process, there are many directories out there I ahve gotten some good traffic and rankings withn articlebase, they also approve my article in a couple of hours usually.

I have several pen names which I publish article under depending on the niche I am targetting, Many people look at your author profile and it can look strange that you are an expert in many topics. if you know what i mean

The anchor text I use is determined by the keyword I am targeting.

    I hope this helps
