My best site: Consistently doing $80-$120 a day, here's what I do...

I was replying to a post about what's working for me and once I had written it out I thought that starting a thread might help more people out...

Here's how my site works that is consistently doing $80-$120 a day:
  1. I created my own product that is a downloadable ebook... that's it, no backend yet.
  2. The niche is something where the main keyword only gets 500-600 phrase-matched searches a month according to Google(for the love of God, don't create a "make money online" product as your first product)
  3. The product is sold from my blog on the same subject that ranks in the top 3 of google for its keyword and a number of the derivative keywords
  4. When someone opts-in to my freebie list on the blog, the thank you page gives them a one-time offer for 40% off the product, and this converts a good percentage of the subscribers. They really do never get that offer again.
  5. The autoresponder sequence sends them a message a day for 6 days that gives more content, as well as offering them 30% off if they act by the sixth day after opting in. After 6 days, no more discount. Another decent percentage buy by the sixth email.
  6. Every blog post I write gets put into the autoresponder, so that every subscriber eventually sees all of my blog posts, and my website stays in their mind/inbox for months.
  7. When someone buys, they automatically get put on a buyers list(you use the email parser function inside of aweber)
  8. The buyers list has an autoresponder sequence setup that emails them every 3 days, giving them more and more information, sprinkled with very relevant/complimentary offers.

.... That's it in a nutshell right now. My product is on Clickbank, but affiliate sales are very rare, as 99% of traffic comes through search engines, and I haven't really tried getting JVs or anything.

I'm betting that when I get my backend product done that has audio and video, the site will make a lot more.

Thanks for posting your system, Nate.

That just goes to show, there isn't any magic dust needed in order to be successful.

Sounds like the most important part was just putting it all into play.

I think that starting the new thread will help and inspire those thinking there's

some big secret that is out there.

Thanks Again and Good Luck with your next project.

You've got a nice tight plan here with lots of room to grow. Some of the best products online are outside of the MMO niche. There are thousands or even millions of people with other interests. And many of those other subject areas are full of people who like to spend money.

Congratulations. You've put together a good plan.

That's a great process Nate. You might want to look into the product launch formula to launch/relaunch the product and also some of the special offers you can push from time to time to boost sales.

For people reading this the key is he picked a small non-competitive niche that has a question which needs answer, and answered it.

Too often people go for big niches, or niche that are too competitive, and then find they cannot rank. Start small.

First, I want to congratulate you on your $100 plus per day income. Second, I want to thank you for sharing your method. It has given me a lot of ideas and I greatly appreciate it. Third, I want to ask you how long did it take you to create this type of product that are now making you $80-$120. Last but not least, how many products do you have to sell to reach this daily income threshold?

    Regards.

@willyboy- It is a small business niche. I hesitate to do more because I am one of only two sites(that I can find) in the niche offering a product. I haven't bought the other one but mine at leasts looks a lot better.

@bill_z I get between 80-200 uniques a day. I have a lot of returning traffic from my autoresponder always plugging away.

@amoeba ... Umm, I don't remember at this point why I chose that niche, I didn't really have any specialized knowledge... I kind of did the "expert in a week" thing to create the product. But I've only had one refund and I get emails from buyers telling me how stoked they are about the knowledge they got from the ebook.

@minisite- I sell anywhere from 1-3 a day, sometimes 0 honestly, but the autoresponder with the buyers list is always good for a sale or two as well.

Just wondering, what one time offer script do you use?

And what happens if people just opt in again with a different email to see the OTO again, is that prevented via IP recognition?

What's funny about this is... I don't use a script. If someone kept the email and clicked the link a year later they would still get the "discount". I just copy my product in clickbank and have some different prices to work with.

Trying to figure out complicated things like scripts for something like that just piss me off and waste my time, and I am OK with the fact the while maybe 1 in 20 people will figure out it's not actually time-sensitive, the other ones won't. I try to get things done as fast as possible, and I found that when I was always trying to perfect every detail it would take forever to actually complete projects.

Love the fact that you keep it simple, also I don't think too many people would think to use the same link again outside of the IM niche anyway.

I know what you mean about taking too long to get things perfect, the new rule for me is don't get it perfect just get it going. You can always improve as you go along but if you wait for things to be perfect then chances are that you won't get it up and running at all.

I use to waste hours or days agonizing over how to do something like I had seen it done on some other site. It was a big breakthrough for me to just start putting stuff out there and perfecting it later.

Yeah forever... if the person kept that certain email and clicked the link. I don't use a script or anything to actually track it. I guess it's kind of a bluff. The autoresponder just sends the next few emails with a raised price, and most people, because they aren't IM savvy I guess you could say, just assume that first one won't work anymore and they purchase through the most recent email.

      Thanks man.

Yeah it's not definitely not brain surgery but it takes a decent amount of time and work to hammer out the product and the autoresponders... but now, the only real work I do on the site is like a blog post a week and some backlinks now and then.

The work part is what gets most people

Just the email parser alone. You have to set it to the clickbank parser inside of aweber, and then you have to change a setting in clickbank.

I'm not sure where, but just google something like "aweber parser clickbank", and you'll get the official aweber tutorial... it was pretty easy to do.

Do the buyers receive one email every 3 days in addition to the 1 email a day plus a blog post email every other day? That's like 12 emails a week. It seems like a lot. But you are making profit, so it must be working well.

No, in aweber I have an automation rule that as soon as they buy they are unsubscribed from the freebie list. The buyer list is a specific set of emails in the autoresponder, and they don't get the blog posts I've put back in the autoresponder for the freebie list.

Warriors, please don't be fooled by the simplicity of this method - it's not only brilliant but actually works. This goes on to prove two things once again:

    1) The easiest way to earn a consistent income online is to create your own product and sell it.
    2) It's not as difficult as many assume it to be.

There are many desperate niches out there where people are looking for solutions! Forget the "make money" niche, there are other niche markets where you'll find almost zero competition.

All I'd say is think long term, take some action and create your own products.

Yeah I would say nowhere near as difficult as people make it out to be. It's actually very easy to create the product. I seriously think what's stops most people is the actual process of typing out a hundred pages of something.

This is an evergreen strategy that will work no matter what niche you're targeting. The key to making this work is being passionate about the subject matter (or at the very least interested), as your success in implementing it will depend on the quality of your blog posts and content that you're generating on a consistent basis.

I guess I can't really say... I haven't tried anything but aweber. But, think about it this way: If having aweber and its capabilities even gets you one sale in a month, it's well worth the money. What it does is worth much more than what it costs in my opinion.

I had a few niche sites and this one was doing the best so I made my own product for it.

Anywhere from 1 to 3 sales a day. The buyers autoresponder usually has at least one affiliate sale too.

Thanks for your post. But how then do you get traffic to your site. Is it only search engine traffic that you get or there are other means you use. Let me have your response about this. Thanks

Doesn't mean you should give up on IM completely, but you should find a much smaller niche with less competition and get a few of those type of sites up and running.

Dont worry I did that too and while you can make money in this niche you have to be in the insiders club, big lists, big clients, lots of value and money to spend creating someting that alot of people want and need.

But most of all I have found those guys in the inside circle make truck loads as they have the bigger lists and they plug eachother throughout the year.

Just goes to show you how important lists are. Without them these guys at the top would be broke trust me.

Wow that's amazing man! Now I suggest you start on a higher paid backend product already.

Maybe you should start looking for JVs in your niche because that's one of the fastest way to grow to the next level. Instead of trying to do it all on your own, leverage some of other peoples traffic.

Good luck man and congrats on your success.

Nice and simple for sure, and yes this definitely works - please, please, please follow Nate's advice on creating your own product, it can be the best decision you ever make...

3 major areas that people struggle with in Nate's outline though...

    1. Finding his niche. Nate's advice is good, finding a niche that is not massively competitive, but is also not dead...he mentions keyword research and that is great, we also have found it very important to look at competitors - I like to see at least a couple of competitors focusing on the same market and roughly the same problem space as the niche I'm considering. There are definitely some dead-end niches) as far as infoproducts go and that can be extremely frustrating because you can do everything else well, but the buying frenzy never happens.

    2. Building a platform before you launch...Nate mentions his blog...though I'm not sure from his post how long his blog was operational, it is important that you get your blog or content site rolling to get indexed and ranked in Google and get some traffic flowing...often a few weeks of dedicated posting and some proper boomarking and back-link work can get you to this point

    3. Converting blog readers into subscribers or customers - believe it or not, this is an art in itself. There are tons of blogs out there that have lots of traffic, readers, but that can't convert those readers into subscribers for the life of them. Most have a weak form off to the right ( that most people ignore), do not have compelling offer and do not mention their opt-in offer in their blog posts - if you do these 3 things you can convert more readers into active subscribers and buyers.

I imagine Nate "implied" some of this work in his system - simple yes, but there are gotcha's that you need to overcome before you get to $100/day and beyond.

Finally - watch your back...you always have to be improving, releasing new products or launching new back-end products as eventually you will get more competition and your sales can take a hit. It may take a month or it may take a year, but it WILL happen. So you can't stay still after releasing your own ebook, keep on developing products and guarantee that you stay ahead of your competition.

BTW guys - there is nothing wrong with the make money niche AS LONG AS you have practical experience and can share a tip, technique, or system that has gotten you recent results.

What will kill you is theory...but people make a killing every day selling solid advice on what saves time or creates profit and can prove it.

For that reason, it is usually better to actually build a business online (in another market), learn what works and then share that as your make money product.

WOW! That's such a great solution! Why haven't I thought of that (DUHHH!!) I've been pounding at the IM niche, and wrestling with the fact that I'm trying to give advice on something I haven't accomplished. Hard to give serious advice when you haven't been successful yet.

      Jeff-

You're right. There are parts of this strategy that just require general experience I guess...

The niche is the big thing... if you choose a niche that's too competitive, you'll struggle no matter what else you do.

On the other hand, search engines aren't the only traffic source. I have one niche I work in where forum posting is all I use for traffic.

      It just depends.

    Thanks for this info Nate.

When someone opts-in to my freebie list on the blog, the thank you page gives them a one-time offer for 40% off the product, and this converts a good percentage of the subscribers. They really do never get that offer again.
Do you happen to know what percentage of optins convert to the paid offer at this stage?

It's great to see you developed a system that works for you.

Could you explain from a technical standpoint how you do the "40% off one-time offer"? What tools/shopping cart stuff do you use to get this to happen?

The only way I know how to make a discount is use a coupon code in the shopping cart at checkout. But that's not an "act today, one-chance only!" type of thing.

Well... the main thing here to remember is that in most niches outside of IM the people visiting your site have no idea how the marketing concepts and tools work...

To answer your question, they see the "one-time offer" on the thank you page for subscribing.. no software whatsoever.

If they bookmarked the page, they could see that offer whenever they want, but, no one does, and it works.

        O.K., I think I get it:
        1)You have an overall website.
2)There is an option to subscribe to the mailing list
        3) If they subscribe, they are sent to a page like www.yourdomain.com/subscribedyes
        4) On that page there is a "one-time" offer for something at 40% off
        5) if they went directly to www.yourdomain.com/subscribedyes out of sequence, they would get the same 40% off offer
        6) if a completely different person went to www.yourdomain.com/subscribedyes , they would also get that same offer
        7) most people don't pay attention to these types of technicalities

A well put together autoresponder is arguably the best use of one's time. I can't really think of anything else, besides actually creating a product, that gives such a huge ROI over and over again, with a one-time investment of a little time and effort.

    Hey Nate,

Sounds like a fantastic system. Thanks for sharing it. I have launched 35 sites in the past few months and the income is going up quickly. I've done all physical products (Amazon) up to this point and my profit per day per site is not nearly as high as yours.

Congrats on the consistency and the daily $ achievement. Don't discard Yahoo!

Yahoo is the easiest one to rank and you can definitely expect a jump in sales if you get your top 3 keywords in Yahoo. For some reasons Yahoo is usually enough for getting Adsense clicks and good steady rankings on 1,000,000 - 5,000,000 key phrases and three word keywords without much marketing. Much marketing being, the occasional 3-4 article submissions. Then as month go by the 100% keyword rich domain appears in Google search.

So don't discard Yahoo. Articles are certainly enough for getting top rankings with them...nice reminder for myself also

    Keep it up@!

I have ebooks on other niches. I set up most of this for each site within a month or so... So I don't have to continually write content for each site. After the autoresponders are set up, I'll usually do a blog post once every week or two to maintain.

The OTO on the thank you page works so well because of a simple marketing truth: Your prospect is at his or her most hottest buying time as soon as they express interest (in this case opting in.)

Very true. Even hotter I would say when they buy, which is why upsells work so well.

I'm working on a backend product that I'll offer after they buy the intro product.

Gerald, this is so simple and obvious, yet I'm pretty sure many people will immediately dismiss it before even attempting to see whether it works or not.

This works, whether as an OTO presented immediately after the first purchase is made, or even for free opt-ins (it looks like you're showing your new subscribers a great OTO immediately upon opting in, which I'd imagine works very well!)

        Paul,

Very true. On one of my affiliate niche sites the opt in is to access a video, and below the video I promote a product, and that is where most of my sales from the whole site come from.

That is my problem not being able to stay focused and saying to myself I have to learn this, have to lean that, it becomes a bad cycle. Thanks and good luck.

No, I just list three products below and video and I mention in the video to "check out the products below depending on your goal", and then there is a product for specifically "getting ripped", "losing weight", and "gaining muscle". I don't say product names in the video because I rotate products below it to test.

Nate, thank you for sharing, you've answered so many of my questions.

I assume that you also have the addresses of the people that have bought your course/books

Thats cool that you can now send direct mail and other offers. A mailing list thats certainly valuable because of your specific audience.

I am trying to decide on clickbank or ejunkie for my course. I checked out both sites and ejunkie seems like a breeze to navigate and use.

Do you have any tips for first time clickbank beginners? I may just have to go through it

              Thanks again

Umm... I like clickbank. I started with them, and affiliate sales come in now and then for free.

I could probably do a lot better if I actively sought out affiliates to promote some of my stuff... I mostly rely on my own traffic efforts... which is NOT how you get huge in this business...

Anyways- I haven't used ejunkie at all.

Interesting approach. So are they just graphic banner ads that lead to a sales page when clicked? Also, are these products that you created, or are they affiliate products?

No- just text ads that go the sales page of the products. And they are affiliate products. Stuff that converts above average over 2 or 3 months is something I'll try and create my own of. Doesn't always work though.

                You know how testing goes...

that cool beans Nate cos I'm just creating my own products, eworkbooks with audios that compliment in hypnosis (call it meditation or guided visualisation or trance or whatever ...) and nlp techniques. I will be adding video trainings for eft and the like soon - gotta work out a suitable pricing but the upsell is a membership where these kind of modules are added each month.

I've created a few already in weight loss, law of attraction, goal setting and entrepreneurship

my thinking was - affiliate partners are more interested in certain niches, so I will caputure more of them

    what do ya think?

    Great job!

Now that you have a campaign that works you should get your backend in place and scale out your traffic. I've found taking campaigns that are profitable online and sending the offer to direct mail lists using postcards works extremely well.

Could immediately triple your traffic and income. You could also go about ranking for more related keywords which is a no brainer.

Keep it up and your numbers will balloon!

Guys and girls...that's really how easy this is. Great post Nate. Your system is pretty close to what I do and it has turned my life around.

Keep it up...if you want to up that to the $500-$1000 days, start looking for those pretty little affiliates. Just 1 could add a few hundred dollars per day to your income.

The beauty of this method is the simplicty.

Not a lot of bells and whistles...no complicated scripts.....

Just Word Press, Clickbank and Aweber...Tools that many Warriors have already mastered, or at least are comfortable with.

A simple step by step method to success.

    Wow, NateRivers.

    Thanks for sharing your success.

Now will you rinse and repeat? That is create another product in another niche and do the same thing over?

I've read some of your posts, Nate, and you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. I was so discouraged by my first year, I quit for a month. Then, one of my sites started to get some traffic and I got a small check ($117). That was all it took to get me back to the keyboard. I'm using a different niche now that doesn't have much competition. I tried car insurance, organic dog food and others and was working at it day and night for nothing. Now, I have some little checks coming in every month from 5 low competition sites. I also own a mini storage business, so IM is a nice little sideline.

Nate - thanks for the post. So far I have learned that those that share the most - eventually earn the most as well. I am not promoting but I have been working on the Chris Farrell and Yaro Starak programs to learn web site and blogging. Their concept of "over delivery" gets a lot of press. The interviews and comments on their material is always very complementary. That is exactly what I see here. So I want to give you your due and thanks for making the effort. No doubt we will see more of your work - soon. Frankly, if you (or anyone else) has an interest in looking at a "newbie" blog I would appreciate your opinion. Just leave any commentary you have pro or con. I can see from your post - I will definitely benefit. Thanks

      Brad,

I looked at your blog and it looks good. The main tip I would give you work on building a list. With the banners for Yaro's stuff and all the links in your post to their site, the traffic you do get to your site is gone forever. Yaro will capture their email and yes, you might get the commission if they buy, but had you got their email you could be marketing to them in the future as well.
