Do You Keep Buying Domains Swearing To Yourself It Will Be The Next Big Thing

I just checked my stats

88 domains purchased....LOL

Only 5 of my sites are active at this time, and one of them currently being sold.

Now I will add that they are SEO keyword domains...all 88 of them...

but what a waist just sitting out in cyberspace doing nothing.

Do you have a problem with this? You thought of a good name...checked that the keyword.com name was available and snapped it up. Then you swear to yourself that it will be the next big thing, yet it just sits there laying dormant for months on end.

    Kind of.

I don't know what I'm going to do with existentwoman.com or spiritoftheway.com, for example.

Let alone the Worst Domain Name Ever.

Which I cannot actually type in here. It would basically come out ****************.com

spiritoftheway.com - Could be good for a law of attraction, maybe like a prosperity and abundance sites with a paid membership or forum.

      Hope this helps.

    Totally!

I had 130 different domains when I first started out - you know, those 2 AM ideas that are just gonna rock?

Then, one day, I looked at all the JUNK I had which didn't do anything for me.

Took me a while, but I killed the habit.

Now, I have about 20 of them - probably less. All of them have a purpose and are being used. : )

Can't even begin to tell you how much time I save (oh, and peaceful sleep too).

Consider SEDO. Flippa is more for websites than domains in my opinion.

I was going to start a new site on RVs and when I told my wife that it was only going to cost me $4.99 to get a domain she asked me why I don't just focus on the other 6 sites of mine.

So I saved the $4.99. One bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush, right?

I have 800 domains - left... I've let over 1000 expire in the last 3 years.

I never bought them thinking they'd be the next big thing, I just like having networks of sites for my niches, but it got too much and I'm lazy

    nothing to see here.

Back in 2007 I did the same.

Even in the adult photo niche

I have gone on to reliaze that one of those domains that expired is very popular nowadays and earns a pretty penny.

Yes I know! should of could of would have.

Best to focus on one thing and go from there.

Yea, I used to play that 'one shot - one more domain' game.

Great combo...Jack Daniels and a GoDaddy bulk domain account.

I can't even type when I'm sober, you should have seen some of the domain names I bought back when I used to drink...

Now I'm down to about 100 or so that are mostly active or I have visions for.

Buying domains on a whim is an easy trap to fall into, there are so many good ones out there.

          Haha.

I bought one horrible domain actually once. It was not even a .com and it was my mistake. I don't even want to say it.

I collect two things... teddy bears and domain names.. although I don't collect nearly as many of either as I once did. Some (domain names, not the teddy bears) I buy to use for myself and some to sell. Some for my use are still sitting, waiting for me to get to them and do something with them.

It's on my list of things to do...

I have over 100 plus domain name

Relook into them and decide not to renew more than 50 of them.

Flip off some of them and building sites on some of the domain.

It is really exciting to streamline what to do with these assets

  • I do have an addiction to buying domains, I think some of them will be good, but looking back there's some pretty bad ones I bought. I sometimes ask myself if I was drunk when i bought them. lo.

I got up to 20 domains at one time and same thing 5 active, I started to load them with BS content and google ad's, promoting them using google maps as businesses to drive some traffic. I raked in a whopping 100.00 per month till it dwindled into nothing. they expired and say la vie. lol but I learned FOCUS on the business that makes me happy and I believe in and stop chasing waterfalls ....

I am sitting just under 1,000, been buying for 10 years now and have not let anything drop for about 5 years now.
I have always said that knowing how to invest in domains is like having a slot machine in your house that is never turned off....LOL
My portfolio has some pretty good-valuable names now that are aged, I am very happy that I got in when I did and only wished I had been about 5 years earlier.
