      Off line Selling Like?
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3594537].message }}
      • "Off-line" like go to your Barber, hair dresser, dentist, car wash, dry cleaner, doctor, lawyer, chiropractor, podiatrist, auto shop, video store, almost any business that is open in a building or has an address.

Go in and ask for the owner. Say "Hi" my name is _____, and I was wondering if you advertise on Google places?

        Then shut up and listen!

        If they say What?

Then proceed to tell them what Google places is and why its something they should know about because their competitors already know about it.

Ask,"Do you have a computer online right now? If Yes, tell them that numerous people "Google" rather than yellow page shop now days. Have them go to their computer or if you have a smart device online use it and in "Google search" have them type in the type of business they have with the name of you town and state and see what happens.

If they say "yes" they know about and are on Google Maps (places) ask them what position they are in for the key word of their "business type" or "service" and you may get a "what" again. If you do go back and read the above paragraphs.

If they rank below the fold tell them they need to be above it and what about other keywords relevant to their business.

Now I could go on and on but you know enough about computers and Google to find this forum so that's at least enough to offer your service to optimize their google listing and tell them that is about 2-3 hrs. work and you would be glad to to that for $50. or what ever.

Ask $35 that's better than the .35 you say you have now. Ask them for their email, telephone, address and website if they have one. Oh they don't have one then after we get you listed in Google we can talk about that..............!

Tell them you will need some information and if they are not listed yet Google may contact them to verify they are real and this may(will) take a couple weeks. You will get the ball rolling and be in contact. If you have a calling card that would be nice or get some heavy bond paper and use MS Word or Open Office and get a calling card template and get your scissors out and produce some.

Now all this costs you barely nothing but some time and shoe leather.

I'm not going to fill in all the gaps I assume you can figure them out and research for free, what Google places is and how to list, etc.

Make a list of business in your area to contact in advance find them in"The Yellow Pages" online or offline book and know this, if they have a box add with a graphic they are already spending $100's of dollars a year on that advertising you just need to tell and show them there's a better way and they don't want to end up like Borders Books.

Take your list and "Google" each business on it and you will know in advance what to expect when you say "Hi, my name is_____,and are you listed online in Google".

Like the gurus say what I just told you and the others Warriors are saying in replying to your question is worth $1,000's. And it is! I'm not sellin, so I don't need a FTC disclaimer. You do a little free learning and research and go out next week and see at least 50 businesses that's 7 a day and you'll make $money and you just may start a snowball.

Plan on no's but they are not your enemy they are your friends because they will lead you to yes's. Now the ball is in your court. How badly do you want to fill those pockets?

          • Ksmusselman This approach would work on the phone too. As for post cards the concept is sound. I have been using variations of this approach to market and or sell many things. I've been using it since before the Internet was a pup.

The key thing in this approach is being "prepared" and being somewhat "bold". The thing that makes it work is that once you get to a decision maker you let them know you know something that can help them that they don't know about.

Think about it. If you had a spider between your shoulder blades and didn't know about it and someone said," Do you know what's on your back?" you would want to know what they are talking about wouldn't you?

I'm not going to go into all the sales strategies here as it is going off topic. Just remember that all this (sales/marketing) works because people have wants, desires and needs. If you have a solution for them they will chase you down. What many Warriors need is not the latest wso but they need to understand some basic marketing first to apply to the wso.

Follow my posts in the future as I'm going to reveal basics that new marketers need to know and that I've have paid tens of thousands to learn. And yes I hope to monetize that. That's why I'm here on this forum to learn more about using the Internet as a tool. I already have a good grip on how to sell. I plan on helping others to make money first and more than enough (money)will come back to me. Just watch for Old Dog and he will show you some new tricks......

You're based in the USA, right? Lifehacker once posted this thing: make money online in your spare time. If you don't want to click on the link, it basically suggests that you try looking into doing questionnaires/surveys for money, participating in focus groups, try usertesting.com, and a bunch of other little things. Each generates like $10-15 at a time, but it's probably better than nothing.

                I completely agree with this...

You're a War Room member - are you making use of the tools, resources and great information that is in there? If you're not, I'd advise you to start doing so. This should of course relate heavily to my previous paragraph - find things that are relevant to what you are good at and what you want to do. If you don't, then you'll find you are suffering from information overload.

I don't know if you are easily motivated or whether you struggle. You are down to your last 35 cents, so that should act as some strong motivation. I'm great thanks

Yeah, you're right :p Usually when I see those kinds of threads, I don't post in them because so many people(lots of them with way more experience and knowledge than me) already do anyway, and because the original question by the poster is often so vague. At first I was just going to agree with Suzanne for mentioning the 'What To Do If You're Desperate' thread but I thought I should contribute too if I was going to take the time to post in the thread :p

Simple - you can look up their contact/address information online in Google and also in the Yellow Pages (as well as the big ads in your local paper), and then either have a postcard fulfillment company do everything for you, or do it yourself (more economical if you're only sending 100-200 cards or less at one time).

In order to generate some start up cash have you belongings/items you could part with and sell to get some start up cash to then start you IM business? There is no such thing as "QUICK" money IMO.

That's one of the first suggestions.

Also, go through the craigslist gig listings for every US city. I've picked up some nice cash doing that over the years.

Do you have anything you sell at a scrap yard? Copper's paying out nicely.

    Get a job.

Seriously... if you need money, then getting a job is what you should do until you have an action plan to invest in your business.

The internet is made up of people who like the throw around the phrase "my internet business" but they NEVER treat it like that.

With a business, you need to invest in yourself, in your business and knowledge. If you have no money in the first place, how can you "grow your internet business".

Get a job and then you'll have a few bucks to play around with, then continue to use that money to slowly distance yourself from your job.

I don't know why people say things like this. If getting a job was that easy, most of us won't be opening threads like this.

I'm sure the OP tried to get a job, but failed.

Getting a job is not easy. It takes time and usually you have to endure lots of rejections before you even get one. It can take weeks, even months!

Sometimes when you're really desperate, the only option left is to help yourself, take matters into your own hands and not wait for others to hire you.

I don't think it's weird that OP is looking for a solution online (No wonder if everyone, every guru and his dog, tells you it's incredibly easy to make money online, WITHIN HOURS)

No wonder so many people are so misinformed.

I spent a lot of time being broke, so I assume that you are looking for a quick fix like I was. I don't have one for you, unfortunately.

I do have some advice. After you have taken care of your immediate financial needs, spend as much time as possible learning.

Thanks to Ben Franklin, the library is a great place to get a free education. I don't think that I could have started my business without it.

There are a lot of free resources on the Internet as well.

You can learn how to write code in PHP, learn a new spoken language, learn to cook better or repair bicycles with "just" a library card. If you have a decent library in your area, you can learn enough to go from rags to riches if you are willing to put the time and effort in.
"Empty the coins in your purse into your mind and your mind will fill your purse with coins anew."

Show your bits to paying webcam subscribers.

Seriously, try to look for money to tide yourself by posting your profile on freelancing sites such as Elance and Odesk. I'm sure that you have some skill that other people are willing to pay for. At the top of my head: writing, editing, translation, data entry, blog commenting, building backlinks. These are easy jobs that some people are too busy (or lazy) to do themselves, and so are paying other people to do it.

Great suggestions there. If you're really desperate for money, don't limit your search to only things that you can do online. Oftentimes, doing offline errands and odd jobs can get you money much quicker than your online activity. In addition to that, look into providing simple online services (such as writing and submitting press releases, blog set up, autoresponder set up, etc.) to your local neighborhood businesses.

Your best bet would be just to get a job. Then once you get money start your business. That would be the easiest least painful thing.

I agree with the notion that you should find a real job first. Making money online isn't something that you'll simply achieve. You have to earn it, just like anything else.

If you are really hoping to at least get your foot in the door with something, I would suggest offering a service. Fiverr is a good place to start. What are your skills?

Why are some folks assuming he/she doesn't already have a job? A curiosity. Most of the people I know who want to make money online already have an offline job they hate, which is why they are looking for an alternative.

Anyway, the quickest way to make money online isn't through internet marketing, it is through ebay/craigslist, freebie trading, and Amazon's mturk. Mturk pays pennies literally, but you can cash out at $10 and that's more than .35.

That may have worked back in the 80s or 90s but not so easy today, believe me. First, it might take MONTHS just to FIND a job. And after you get the job, you might get laid off AGAIN before you've even had time to "fix your finances."

I'm watching my son get laid off of his third job in less than three years and it took him over a year to land THAT job. One year later, he's out of work again. And my daughter was out of work for two years before finally being able to get a part time job.

Fortunately for both of them, they're very resourceful and found things they could do here and there for cash while they were job hunting.

Those are the suggestions people in the year 2011 need when they're broke; ideas of what to do in the meantime while looking for the ever elusive "job" to come up.

Last year, after being laid off the second time, my son's wife ran an ad in the paper on the order of "handyman husband for hire." He got paid cash to:

      1. Clean out roof gutters
      2. Rake leaves
      3. Mow the lawn
      4. Spread mulch
      5. Hang drywall
      6. BABYSIT - yep, he was a "nanny" for an 8yr old in his neighborhood for about six months.

How old's my son? 30 this year, with 3 kids and one on the way. But when you're down, you either let yourself get kicked around some more or you simply find things to do that others will pay you to do that they either can't or won't do for themselves.

      Hope this helps you some!

Get a bucket, car shampoo, sponge & sqeezy...

Walk / Drive / Bus to a shopping mall / busy area / church / where ever you can find water!

Ask people if they would like to have their car / rv / truck washed by hand, promote the fact they will not get any scratched like all the mechanical car washes!!!

Do this for a WHOLE weekend or every late afternoon for a WEEK...

Take 50% of the money you make, buy a WSO that works, print some OFFLINE flyers that say " Hey I washed some cars... now I make $XX a pop selling *WSO product name* you can too!

Sign them up by getting them to call your home/cell or give them a gmail address with the offer and a gmail holiday auto responder setup!

Have a beer with part of the other 50% (if your 21+) relax a while, then rinse and repeat until you hit the right people at the right time, with the right WSO!

    This Works!

    Hope that helps!

How about going to a place where you will be fed 3 times a day, given free medical care, free rent, have opportunity to get a job, low paying job but a job nonetheless, get free high-school education, even a college education totally free on someone else's dime, and finally be able to work on your inner demons? What is this place? Prison.

Just playing. Despite what a lot of people say, you don't really need any money to make money online. I am a testament to this, believe me. All of my affiliate earnings were earned through a combination of grunt persistence and a dash of common sense.

If you look for it, nearly every little thing you need to further your affiliate earning cause is available, somewhere, for free. Case in point, hypothetically:

Join an affiliate program for free (Clickbank, CJ, MoreNiche, and countless others)

Do some free keyword research using the Google Keyword tool. Choose some decent keywords with low competition, usually long-tail ones.

Take that list and write articles using those keywords, using the free Open Office if need be, and follow the basic idealogy of article marketing, which can be found for free at Warrior forum and a million other places.

Promote the products of your affiliate program in those articles, either in the resource box, or elsewhere. This will depend on where you post these articles.

Open free accounts at all the social bookmarking sites supported by the FREE service Onlywire. Then submit the links to your articles to all of these sites using the free OnlyWire submission.

Then create free blogs on free blog hosts like Blogger, etc. to promote your articles. Build backlinks using video sharing sites, document sites, power point slide sharing sites, all of it 100% Free.

Rinse and repeat. Do this every day, as much as you can. You will fill your pipeline and sky's the limit.

If you're looking for free, fast, easy money with little or no effort and/or commitment, let me save you a lot of trouble: it doesn't exist. Anyone who tells you it does, is trying to sell you a dream that will never materialize.

If you need money tomorrow, offer to write articles for other internet marketers, or other grunt work they don't want to have to do themselves. Then you are only limited by your own production and time. Maybe you'll get something out of this.

This idea seems to be an "ideal game plan" but unfortunately it has been repeated over and over again for million and gazillion times in the WF. If it were as easy as you described, nobody will ever be buying any clickbank or a wso product anymore. I like your effort to give advice but it just sound too cliche to me..

If my comments offended you, I apologize, it wasn't intentional. On the subject of this method being cliche and commonly discussed, you're right, but these threads are even more common. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, the OP can literally create money from nothing.

Also, I never said it was "easy", in fact I even said not to look for fast easy money, because it doesn't exist. Regardless of what you may believe, this method does work, and is still working very well, at least it is for me. In fact, I have even automated the whole process like an assembly line, but that is irrelevant.

I have had multiple people ask me to show them "how to make money online" with zero capital, an every single one of them quit after a few days. Fact is, many people want to make money on the web, but about 90% of them are not willing to put in the effort, for a smorgasboard of reasons.

Are there other, better, faster ways of making money online? Probably, but the best way is to focus on one and not bounce around from new method to new method. I was simply relaying to the OP a time tested, proven, still viable way of making money without having to spend a nickel. There is a reason why methods like these are cliche, and it's because they work. I didn't post my method to show it was better than yours, even though it may have seemed like I did.

I have an idea but I don't know whether it is legal or not to do it here in WF. Anyway for fun sake lets just assume that this is ok. (if it is not, just ignore) SO, here it goes

Research for a set of problems that many new Clickbank affiliates/Amazon affiliates have difficulties in or you can also write about offline marketing tips that can help people who are about to get involved in the offline marketing. Once you have done your research, find the solutions to those problems by writing an article teaching them how to solve those problems. (there are many things that you can write about if you really look through the posts here in WF)

After writing a good articles that can help newbies to solve their problems, you simply post that article on a free platform like blogspot.com. At the end of your post put a "donate button" and simply ask readers to donate if they find your article helpful to solve their problems.

After that, place good a portion of that article here in WF on a new thread and "invite" readers to read more of that article on your blogspot.(place your blogspot url on the sig column) This way if they are interested in your article, they will be glad to proceed to your blog to read more and if they find it helpful, I think they will not mind to click the Donate button at the end of your article.

I would be shocked if even one person, who wasn't intoxicated, would read an article or blog post, then decide to pay for the solution to their problem AFTER they were given that solution.

Most people pay (or "donate") for info they need, then get it. Not vice versa. That'd be like scratching off a lottery ticket, then being given a choice to buy it or not.

I respect your opinion, I just thought it was a little silly that's all

I think you are confused.... or are you intoxicated?

People will have to pay for things that they want to buy... they don't donate for some thing that they are in need of.

People donate for something that are NOT being sold at the first place but in appreciation, they donated for the author's effort to bring good and free info and for the fact that they is a "donation" button...

Donating is not paying in this case since they have the choice to do it or not...
But when you buy something you don't have the choice but to pay...

In conclusion don't get confused between paying and donating...
I respect your opinion too but somehow they seems intoxicated to me...

It's possible this could work, but I think a lot would hinge on the quality of the content you provide. Another way to do this would be to create a great product for the niche you're targeting, and then just provide lots of content that is valuable, yet doesn't cover the subject matter in as much exhaustive and helpful detail as your product. Of course, you'd let your blog readers know about the availability of this great product of yours, and invite them to buy it on your site.

Just because the OP says he has 35cents in his pocket doesn't mean he is going to starve. People are making assumptions...we don't know who he lives with, or, if he has to worry about paying bills, eating, etc. He never said he was starving.

Now perhaps he wants to make money with no money and that is fine. A few of you have given ways he can do that creatively. The question becomes how bold is he to try those things. The road map is set.

If you are thinking of making a living by online marketing, you won't make it with just 35 cents. But if you are really looking for some money to start your IM business, here are some:

Create a clickbank, find a product, then create squidoo lens, add some interesting posts on it, and later add your affiliate link under.
People can find your post useful and then buy the thing you are offering.

Or, you can simply go to yahoo answers, and look for someone that need help. Offer them some help to solve their problem. Perhaps someone is looking for a hosting? you can simply point him the direction to hosting that you happen to be its affiliate. That way you can earn commission.

Also, if you can write decent, try Associated Content, Fiverr, or even Demand Studios which pays $15.00 for good articles, some even more but you have to apply and have a blog at least that displays some of your writing samples. And you need a Paypal account. If you can't get one or want cash as fast as possible, offer your writing services on this forum and some of the other Internet Marketing forums. Being that you have no portfolio, maybe offer the first one for free, no obligation. Yes, sucks to do something for nothing, but when you think about it you are doing it to bring forth new clients. This all assumes you have decent writing ability though, I'm curious, do you?

Or they can just "review" new product launches every week and make money that way right? (wink wink)

This might work, but the OP is going to have to take into account that if he's promoting Clickbank products on his sites, he'll have to wait at least several weeks for those commission checks to arrive.

Being broke is a joke when it seems a prolonged experience. In all irony that's the best state in which to start because you give up on whining and you're able to bite down. Go for it!

I just wanted to add that besides Fiverr, Justafive and Zeerk could be good. Fiverr needs 2 weeks to clear out your money.

Here is an idea, get all these responses into a short report and sell it for $10. LOL

I would say list all your old books on Amazon and sell them, ask friends for old books they don't want any more and add them to your list.
Have a good look around your house and friends house and start listing the things you don't want on ebay. It's worked for me in the past when I've needed fast cash.
The other thing is start recording videos and upload then to you tube. Talk about a subject you really know or write a free report about your subject you can give away to
start building trust and good will. Good luck with it denhinn I've been there too....
