Have you ever noticed when researching the competition for a long-tail key word that sometimes a Hub Page will be ranked really well for the term? You don't know how they did it, but there it is.

Most likely that Hub Page author put some work into getting that page ranked. They built links to it somehow. Maybe they have some black-hat link spamming software that got it ranked so high. Or maybe they spent hours getting comment links, article links, etc. pointing to it. It doesn't matter. The important thing is that you can now capitalize on their work.

Just write your own Hub Page for the same exact search term. Throw a few social bookmarks at it. Within a short time your page should be ranking right there under the existing one in the SERPs as a sub-page for the search term on the same site. You know, a second page listed that is slightly staggered under the first result.

If you like this business model all you need to do is go through the entire Clickbank library and do long-tail keyword searches for all the good sales pages you like. When you find a Hub Page ranked high for a term, build a hub (I like to hire article writers for $5 for the content and put my affiliate link in the first paragraph, converted to a Tiny Url of course).

Have fun with this.

Thanks, for the insight. I have been actively writing hubs for awhile now. I'm always looking for tips to help me make more money with hubpages.

Iv'e seen it work with Squidoo as well, but Iv'e also seen it not work at Squidoo. I think it can be more reliably done with Hub Pages.

You need to use the same title as the hub your are piggy backing on - or, at least, almost the same title using the same targeted search phrase.
