Hi guys. I'm just so tired of running out of money..I have a full time job, but it seems like every week I'm looking for like just $50 more extra dollars. Right now. My hairs not done. I'm using free internet. Hosting's not paid for. cell phone is off. I've tried the writing thing, but it sometimes takes me maybe like 1 hour and a half to write one article...and then some of those article writing sites will reject your articles you spent your good time on. Those bidding sites....ugh. Can someone please help me to finally get something where I can make some easier money online. like a work from home company thats not hard to get accepted at or something??? Please Please help.

    Hi,

Umm, that's your problem. You're looking for a "job" and not looking to build an actual online business. I'll let the other warriors tell you how to build a business. But one thing i will say is that you should stop looking for "New Methods". Find one thing that you know will work and stick with it...Work on it until you make some money. When you're making money with it consistently, You should scale it up as much as you can.

My advise might sound a bit vague but its something I wish someone would have told me when I was the one making these "Help" threads. It takes a lot of courage to come out and ask for help. I'm glad you did. I wish you all they very best and genuinely hope you make it big online.

    Good Luck..

    Cheers,
    Kunal

I don't think this is an issue about not having enough money. Look at the root of the cause, you're income is not enough to cover your expenses.

The simple solution, make a budget and stick with it. Your rent or mortgage should not be more than 30% of your income. If you make 1,500 a month, get something that is under 450 a month. Get a cheaper cell phone plan...

If you're not responsible financially you will always have this problem. Make a budget and stick to it. Your expenses are more than your income. This is very very basic and simple to take care of. Make a budget, and don't break it. THEN, start learning about making extra income, maybe through fiverr, or start learning something you can offer as a service.

Your problem is lack of a budget.

Service. If you don't have a physical or actual product to sell or list, you need to provide a service.

Go browse around fiverr and see what services are being offered.

I am going to respectfully disagree with your second paragraph and agree with the first. I often see comments similar to yours on this forum when someone is struggling. I am not directing this specifically to you because many people on this forum think the same way. In the past I did too.

I think the problem is more of a mindset issue. In another comment you talked about a budget. This is the key. You have to know how much money you need to make each month to make ends meet.

Back to the disagreement. Cutting back on expenses is like dieting, it usually doesn't work. Often when a diet does work, the weight eventually comes back. If the diet does work, and the weight stays off, it stays off because there is a lifestyle change.

There are two ways to make a lifestyle change when it comes to income. The type that you described is the "glass is half empty" type. The "glass is half full" lifestyle change is simply a thought process. What I am saying is that the OP only needs $50 more a week.

Let's take a conversation that I had with my wife this afternoon. She really wants the new Chrysler 300C. We normally don't buy brand new cars so she will probably find a two year old car to purchase. At lunch today she was telling me how bad she wanted one. I told her that she simply needed to come up with an extra $400 a month, otherwise she could wait for another year when I intend to upgrade her car.

Now hear is the difference in what you told the OP and what I told my wife. My wife is a guest writer for a blog. She writes 1-3 posts a month and she is paid $25-$40 per post that she writes. They would gladly have her write additional posts. I told her that all she needs to do is post 10-15 posts each month on the blog. I did not tell her to cut back her other expenses and use that money to purchase the car (which she could do).

It took me a long time before I really understood this concept. If a wealthy businessman wants a widget, he doesn't cut his expenses to purchase it. Instead, he creates income to purchase the widget. He might create a new business, a new product line, invest in something else. It really doesn't matter. Instead of trying to cut back what he already has to purchase the new widget, he creates more income to purchase it.

@OP: You are talking about earning $7-8 per day. Taking the Fiverr route it would mean you want 2 orders per day. You can post a total of 20 Gigs there as of today. Identify your talents and post as many gigs are you can upto 20 and market them.

Or, create a high-quality service here on the Warrior Forum that involves say article writing (since you already know you can do that), and use speech-to-text is typing is an issue. Researching for getting data to write articles ought to be easy with the Internet providing a lot of data. Simply assemble the information - write down the summary - and elaborate each point. That'll get you a good quality article in a short time.

Look at the Warriors For Hire section. See what services people are offering. If you think you are good at some of them then simply go ahead and offer similar services.

Hope some of these tips get you started. Focus on doing whatever few things you become good at doing rather than trying and missing everything while trying to improve upon every single skillset that you could possibly have.

          Hi Kea,

Online working comes in two ways... passive income and active work.

Passive income means that you do work once and it yields income over time without any further assistance.

Active work means that you have to work like you are on a 9 to 5. You can combine both - and that's what I suggest from the start.

Start by looking on this site at what people do:

          - Fiverr
          - Elance
          - Odesk
          - Freelancer
          - Scriptlancer

They are all contractual websites where you earn for doing tasks for people online and the companies mediate to ensure that you get paid.

Once you are through then try learning how to build your first website and start learning how to create some passive income on your own.

          Good luck!

If you have a land line phone, you can try getting work from home jobs at Alpine Access or Arise. It costs money to work for either because you have to buy a headset for Alpine Access or pay for "tuition" for Arise.

There is a great forum that lists all work from home jobs you can check out. There's too many to besides the top 2 (Arise and Alpine Access) that I know of, but you can check the forum and find a lot of opportunities there. It's called Work Place Like Home. Just type it into Google and it'll come up for you.

Other than that, keeping to a budget and eliminating extras like rammonster suggested is the first place to start.

Try thinking of some ways you can help others in your town. If you have a car, you can run errands for people and charge per hour or mile.

kea55 - I always advise that when you are looking for extra income that you make a list of all your skills. What jobs have you held and what tasks did you perform? Do you have any talents that would lend to making money? Make a honest list and take the time to examine what your skill set is and then look at opportunities to turn one or more of them into making money.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3598317].message }}
  • What are your key talents? Identify those, and you can probably use them to find a job on Fiverr.com.

Once you get a little cash coming in get into affiliate marketing..... Do both! Good luck!

You know, I've only been a member here for a few weeks and I've seen this thread put up at least 8 times already in varying forms. Now I'm beginning to understand why most regulars here find them annoying. Making money online is hard work, just the same as making money offline.

I've written about this on my blog -- people see the millions of dollars being made and think it must be easy, but they don't see all the hard work and the 70 hour weeks that went into building a business from scratch. You can see what I had to say about it here: The Two Secret Reasons Most Get Rich Quick Schemes are a Failure | The Personal Finance Help Center

For me, I make my whole living online, though mostly from those same sites that you can't stand. How do I do it? I worked hard. I started on Elance offering my services for cheap and built myself up. I'm now #208 out of more than 81,000 writers on the site, but it took a very long time (almost two years on the site) to get there.

I'm still struggling to make a living each month, but I am managing and have been working to do IM to build my own business rather than just doing work for others.

The bottom line and point I'm trying to make is that there is no easy living online or offline, especially if you just want a job (theoretically, those who are successful in building their own business online can have an easier life once they are successful, but again, you have to remember the 80 hour weeks that go into doing that and the fact that 95% don't succeed at it).

Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear, but it is the truth -- no one will just hand you a job. You have to work hard and build yourself up.

Everything you do online is based on selling something, even when you sell your own services. There is too much competition, in all fields.

You can have a passive income by creating Squidoo lenses, but this is something that takes time. You have to create a lot of lenses in order to really make money with them.

Here is a lens that teaches you how to create many lenses:

    http://www.squidoo.com/passive-income-website-traffic-squidoo-beginners-guide

Follow Squidoo’s rules, and create many quality lenses. This is a good way to start making some money online, without spending any money. However, it takes time. You also have to promote your lenses, to get traffic.

Trying to make money online when you are desperate is going to be almost impossible. For me personally, nothing comes my way out of desperation.

If you are working full time then you really need to do some budgeting. Cut off and cut down on anything that you don't need to live right now. Start chopping your expenses down.

At the point when you get your income and expense situation under control, then pursue what ever you really want to do.

It will be much easier to make money online if you are not desperate.

    Kea,

I'm writing a guide for Fiverr. There's lots out there already, but I have a highly creative mind so a lot of what I have in this guide is not out there. PM me and I'll share some of the ideas with you now.

Here's one idea for you today.

Are you willing to spend a few minutes to learn how to do a task on fiver that will take you a few minutes?

Learn how to clone and or move a blog from one server to the next. You can go to Youtube and learn how to do this for free. It is not hard. It will take you about 10 minutes or so to learn. However, it will only take you a few minutes to DO once you get it down.

    Here's the THING...

A lot of people miss out on making money online because they are looking for the EASY no work methods. This is EASY. It is a LITTLE work. But it can lead to more work.

Okay, um... my husband is pestering me to go so Kea, PM me and I'll give you more things you can do on Fiverr. Or go to my website get my email and email me.

I don't think there are any real "work at home" jobs. The only guaranteed way to make money is to provide a service.

If you don't want to research and write articles, but you're a reasonably fast writer, consider writing short posts (150 words) for blog networks like Linkvana and BuildMyRank. They are easier to write than actual articles, IMO.

You can go to Freelancer.com and find several jobs like this. There are a few employers who are always looking for new writers. The pay is low but it's something, anyway. Or you can post an ad in Warriors for Hire to write these posts.

No it doesn't require writing articles, setting up autoresponders, SEO, etc.. I don't use the method myself because of the amount of data usage it requires as im on mobile broadband but if you want the details pm me.

That's not true really. Satrap posted a method recently about submitting to bookmarking sites and web directories then advertising the service on fiverr. It's easy and there are no costs involved so it wouldn't be difficult to get to $50/week.

This answer is not necessarily tied to Internet Marketing, but you can easily and cheaply set up your own answering service business. The best way to do this is to get a cheap VOIP service, likely an 800# that will only cost you anywhere from $10 / month up to about $50. Then, go out to the local businesses and offer your services. One client alone gets that investment back. Depending on volume and tasks, you should be able to handle 10 clients or more. You can even charge more for more complex tasks like research or analytics.

You mention that you're earning some money doing freelance writing jobs. If your work gets rejected more often than not, try to brush up on your writing skills. Read some good books by famous writers such as Hemingway, Poe, even Rowling. You will learn the intricacies of the writing craft that way, plus you'll pick up more words to add to your vocabulary. Then study the art of writing for the Web because it's different from writing novels or short stories.

Freelance writing is a good source of income to tide you over while you struggle to get your IM career up and going. There are hundreds of freelancing jobs available on outsourcing sites such as Elance and Odesk. Going up against more established competition in these bidding sites can be intimidating at first, but with the right tactics and mindset, you can get a foothold with which to start a lucrative writing career.

I was at the local library branch today near my home. Even though the branch, which is located in northeastern Ontario, is small, there were plenty of quality books with advice on budgets, saving money, properly spending money, investing, etc. I would imagine that you also have access to downloading books online, too.

Basically, help is available from many sources. I know this from both a personal level and a business level. Bottom line is that the only way to achieve your goals is to actually begin walking the path and implementing a plan. Above all, don't become a perpetual student when it comes to the importance of this topic.

This is exactly why I'm surprised when people mention the bid sites and fiverr, considering the low bidding and all the competition there. I think it has to do with the fact that this is an IM board.

IMO it's simpler and quicker to go to the writing content farms where you do the job and they pay you period (even if the pay is low it's guaranteed). Or ebay/craigslist, where you set the price, or freebie trading.

If you are really struggling then my suggestion is to go out and look for a job that will keep you going first. Once you have settled then look for other streams of income online.

It takes time and energy to find the right niche and also on your ability and you will have to be in it for a long time before you see a decent income.

How would you like to go on a date with an HIV positive person? Paul Graves and Brandon Koechlin thought that someone would, so they created a dating site for HIV positive folks last year. Projected 2006 sales are $110,000, and the two hope to have 50,000 members by their two-year mark.

    8. Designer Diaper Bags
Christie Rein was tired of carrying diapers around in a freezer bag. The 34-year-old mother of three found herself constantly stuffing diapers for her infant son into freezer bags to keep them from getting scrunched up in her purse. Rein wanted something that was compact, sleek and stylish, so in November 2004, she sat down with her husband, Marcus, who helped her design a custom diaper bag that’s big enough to hold a travel pack of wipes and two to four diapers. With more than $180,000 in sales for 2005, Christie’s company, Diapees & Wipees, has bags in 22 different styles, available online and in 120 boutiques across the globe for $14.99.

    9. PickyDomains
Hire another person to think of a cool domain name for you? No way people would pay for this. Actually, naming domain names for others turned out a thriving business, especially, when you make the entire process risk free. PickyDomains currently has a waiting list of people who want to PAY the service to come up with a snappy memorable domain name. PickyDomains is expected to hit six figures this year. Full Story

    10. Lucky Wishbone Co.
Fake wishbones. Now, this stupid idea is just destined to flop. Who in the world needs FAKE PLASTIC wishbones? A lot of people, it turns out. Now producing 30,000 wishbones daily (they retail for 3 bucks a pop) Ken Ahroni, the company founder, expects 2006 sales to reach $1 million.

It's rather difficult to provide any meaningful direction when you don't give us any indication as to your skill sets and what you've already tried.

So I am in the same boat as you Kea! Except I have two special needs kids and it's like impossible to just go out and find a job around my kids...so I hear you on trying to "find" extra money...and I'm kinda surprised at how many people keep mentioning a "Debt diet" because obviously if your phone's shut off and your hairs not done your probably already on a pretty tight budget...what else can you cut right? So anyways I hear you girlie!

Yeah the freelance sites have been real good for me. I personally use vWorker.com Where I have done over $300 this month alone and I just started. The trick is to find the odd jobs. The one's that pay $25 - $50.00 or so. Put in your bid these words. "Can start right now and will give you a positive review #10 Excellent when completed"

You have to make the client feel that you are giving them a deal they can't refuse. Don't go fo the $99 - 499 jobs just starting off. You won't get thm. You need o build up your job credits and feedback.

    Good luck.

Work from home jobs are everywhere, but it's not always easy to get in. Demand Studios, Wisekeek and Love to Know hire writers to create content for $15 bucks or more per article. I just know of content companies, but I'm sure there are other REAL work from home jobs all over the place. However, some jobs are scams so you need to weed through them carefully. Don't ever pay money to work for someone.

Here's a little secret....find a popular, easy, and simple gig on fiverr, copypasta it to MultiTaskr, GigBucks, and Zeerk and charge $10-$15. When it sells, just go order on fiverr and pocket your cash for being the middle man. Works like a charm.

Surely this can't be a top priority
I've tried the writing thing, but it sometimes takes me maybe like 1 hour and a half to write one article

I think it has been around five years since my hair was done...

Have you tried ChaCha? I talk about it in my blog if you want to check it out there. It doesn't pay amazingly well, I made about $2-5/hr depending on how fast I was feeling that day. Basically, people text in answers and you choose the best answer from the list to make sure they get a correct answer. It is really simple work. I used to do it all of the time while watching movies.

You need to step back and first stabalize your money situation. See if you can at least borrow or make just a little more money so that you're not so stressed out. It's great to have your own internet at home. This way, you aren't limited to using free WIFI or limited by working only when your local coffee shop is open.

Then make a list of all the skills, special knowldege, training or talents you have.
From that list identify any skill, talent or specialized knowledge you may have that you could create an info product from. Think ebook or video course.
Once you've selected that, then do some research online and see if there's a market for it.
If so, you've hit pay dirt. That shows you that you have some information that people need and are willing to pay for.

You can easily write up a short report, ebook or guide that you can easily sell online.
If writing isn't your thing, you can create a video course.

Sometimes peolple are very surprised after doing this exercise to find out that they do know something or have some type of skill or training that can help others. Something that they can make money from.
