Who do you survey when you don't have a subscriber list?

This is an excellent thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...thousands.html

My question is, I have no subscribers. (I lie-I have 4-probably came from the same four pages that Google's decided to index so far ).

I also have multiple products lines so even though women aged 40+ are my main target market because of my product lines, some are just getting married, while some are still single and professionals (consultants, teachers, etc.), while some are stay-at-home moms, some are work-at-home moms. Some are looking to save money, while with some, money is not a consideration.

My products, other than simply targeting women of a certain age bracket, seem to still run a broad scope of the buying public because really, bookmarks can be used for -- just about freaking anything!

And ... I have zip (sorry -- FOUR) subscribers to send out a survey to.

So how do I set up a survey to find out:
  1. What these women are looking for when they end up on my site?
  2. What would they be looking for that would get them to my site?
  3. What other types of material do they read, sites they frequent?
  4. What kinds of information are they looking for when it comes to:
  • planning a wedding;
  • planning a bridal shower;
  • promoting their business;
  • thanking their clients;
  • planning a fund raiser;
  • planning a memorial service or funeral;
  • planning a baby shower;
  • planning a graduation party;
  • planning an anniversary party;
  • planning a retirement party;
  • planning a [fill in the blank] party?
So how do I set up a survey like this, I mean besides maybe using Blogger or Survey Monkey? Do I set it up and use Twitter? Should I post it on Facebook? (My fan page only has 32 Fans too )

I'm just looking for some direction because I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. I need to know what my target market is looking for first in order to craft the right kinds of articles and then determine where best to market them.

Thanks!

    Mechanical Turk is one idea I've never used but sounds like it could work quite well (do note that it's against their T's and C's but as long as you do it under the radar and don't go after a huge amount of surveyees you'll probably be fine).

    Sorry couldn't post a direct URL. Just do a Google search for the article title...

        Yup! The tool isn't the problem, it's the "who" because I have no subscribers and the "where" to use the tool because again, no subscribers and not many facebook fans.

        I'm thinking using Twitter and possibly heading over to the forums at TheKnot.com and TheWeddingChannel.com.

        I might even ask a couple of associates to run a survey inquiry in their newsletters. That idea just came to me. :rolleyes:

      I'm reading through that site you referenced. Lots of great info there! I used mTurk last year and it didn't go over very well. Not many responders.
